so - i've been really paying attention to you guys about this year's crop - i'm watching the trychomes and i see all white still - i saw one amber lumpy one the other day - but, we're expecting another rain here in northern CA next monday or tuesday and we're probably going to start harvesting thursday or friday to avoid the rain..

is this an OK timeframe? i think all the trychs are milky - not clear.. i'm going to check every day and watch them, but i'm very reluctant to let them get rained on again.. i am hoping to see more amber ones by friday.. :weed:

i will post current pics tomorrow.. but, do you think we will be sacrificing much yield taking them at this point? they've been flowing for about 8 weeks..

here are pics from 1 week ago - https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/117578-harvest-indicators.html#post1434440

thanks for any input! :bigjoint:

Beautiful pics! I'd let them mature a little more if you think they need it. I'd rather harvest after the rain; let the rain flush your plants for you.

yeah, those look really nice. Even if you had to cut them early they would still come out pretty good. Try to let them go for a couple more weeks if you can. I donno, can you put up any protection to shield them from the rain?? I hear that it is going to rain too. They said that about this last weekend but it was nice the whole time, so who knows. Today doesn't look that great though.

nice,,.! i didn't notice the pic at first.. lol..
ya... i don't think it would be good to try that on my patch now.. i keep thinking that we could make some kind of structure like that next year..

it's actually really simple. it's one tarp tied at the top to the fence posts (they're strong enough to take it, reinforced with a wire tied to a stake,) and plastic sheets/tarp clipped/tied to the sides. rocks holding it down from the bottom.

that's the setup we used to go through the frost without it touching our plants. worked perfectly, even in 25mph wind.

by the way, those buds look great. watch for when the cola's start getting bigger towards the end, the buds end up looking like a bunch of bulbs stuck together with tiny hairs sticking out. either way, if your bud is pretty hairy, it still has more to go I think. but those buds have definitely made its colas larger, it probably only needs a week or two tops. if you see only one rain on the forecast, it would be worth it to try and protect it.

how big/tall is it?

it's difficult to say how tall because they're all flopped over from the rain and the size of their buds... they are around 5 - 6 feet..

it probably wasn't too early. I've heard that it's even a good time to harvest when the trichomes are cloudy too. I'm hoping so because 2 of my plants were cloudy when I harvested them. I'm going to let the next 3 become 50/50 cloudy/amber.
