Just curious, is your setup a combo growbox/bathroom? I see the toilet paper holder, and toothbrush holder mounted in there...
Haha, I was wondering too... actually I figured he's just Waaaaaay more organized than me and has his room set up for the convenience of keeping common needs on hand... made me want to install a cup holder to hold pens and clippers and shit at least, haha.

I love UV. Keeps the area more sanitary, ups trich count, and more potent bud imo. This is in a bathroom too - great place to set up a grow, already has ventilation and water resistant paint ;)

I've noticed that it significantly increases the length of the trichs - in theory this would allow for a larger area to accommodate the heads of additional trichs.

I like the bulbs, I have 10 of the 24". I mix Zilla Desert 50's in with the Reptisun, they have UV coming in heavy at 285nm, the Reptisun's don't get going until 295-300nm. Ten nanometers is a lot at these frequencies, the 280-300 zone is not very good for the lizards. May not be good for plants either, but using them anyway, just to see.

Longer trichomes, didn't know if that was good or not, but mine are not near as long as your strain, longer than they were without UVB though. Density is up also, but so far the trichomes have stayed thin, more but thinner.

Wonderful close ups, great camera work.

at wk 3 of flower i put my uvb on for 1-2 hours mid day i get nice results from it as well

lenth of trichs lot to do wit percents of sat/ind

Here's a quick update :) 52 Days into Flower. ^^ Yeah I added the Tooth Brush Holder to hold my test-tube's and pipets etc.. and the Bog Roll is to mop up any accidentle DWC spillages :) anyhow that aside, my Trichs are looking better by the day...all I need to do is master using my VEHO Discovery 400 USB Microscope, resulting in clearer Trich shots - STELTHY :leaf:

Cheers dude :) ... My Royal-Haze has "90" tops! :) and has pretty much filled the whole Cab. from left to right :) the UV-B light is really bringing out alot more Trichs than I'am used to seeing and also alot more smell :) :) :) I wanted to grow a stinky strain to test out my setup and how it handles smell......and it handles it well :) :) I'am going to add 2 more UV'B lamps ready for my next grow ~ Gotta love UV-B !! - STELTHY :leaf:

ok so im not gonna read all 30 pages as my question is simple and concise

what bulb and specific light parameters do i need for dick size trichomes from a UV light, and do they come in 4 ft bulbs . .. . ? And night cycle use or day cycle?

*simple :) most ppl supplementing their grows w/ UVb are using either.. Reptile UVb 5.0 or 10.0 they come in either cfls/tubes/mercury bulbs~ (many manufacturers)

..distance = 1ft to 7inchs
..for 12/12, id just use the uvb bulbs during day cycle

..cheers

Hey I saw this thread got interested and ordered 2 of the reptile uvb 10.0 26w cfl (currently on sale btw) from amazon and just set them up today. Very informative thread but the only question I have is does anyone think they would be alright w/in the canopy? I must of missed it but I noticed they're always 1' away or more. I put mine about 4-6" away. I guess I'll move them if/when they start to burn. Anyway awesome thread!

Just started trimming the UVB plant today, used 24" Reptisun 10.

The branch tips closer than 3" had severely stunted buds, 8" seemed to be the closest sweet spot for a pair of the 24" on end beside the plant. Some of the side branches were 12" so the sweet spot was between overlit and just fine, UVB worked all the way to the stem (15") as far as healthy off color hairs can be used as indicators.

so i learned this here but when i searce i cant find the post.

any way i have been using a 10.0 uvb light it runs in the middle of the day for 6 hrs, i have been useing it for 4 weeks now in my bud room with 400 hps wow. i have seen a diffrence allready.

it is virtical grow so hps is in the middle and my uvb it to the right. 6 plants on the floor and 8 plants on the second shlef about a foot and a half. 2 plants on each 4 walls.

so the plants that are on the shelf to the right have a ton more thcromes then the plants on the left and thefloor.

now i am going to move the uvb to the other side of the room, but i might need more then one. i am going to do some more trial and error.

is any one else useing this yet?
I have a thread on my journal that you might be interested in. It's the LED without LED lights thread. Check it out if you care to.

I've been using "Snow Storm" its made by humboldt,to increase my trichrome production.
the stuff is sorta expensive, but it works really good.
use it as a foliar spray and apply it to your flowering plants one time a week for about 3 weeks.
you can make the bottle last by doing it this way.
the buds, and the secondary leafs will be totally covered with trichromes.
The UVB does work, but its light coverage is just to weak to get all over my plants.

Snow Storm Ultra is great for increasing localized trichome production but it doesn't lengthen the trichomes like the UVB lights do. Use both for really killer results.

BTW I foilar with SSU like twice a week from week 1 to week 6 in flower. As long as your cooling/venting is in order then theres no need to worry about bud rot.

I've been smoking the UVB bud for a couple days now. I like the act smoking itself. My normal procedure of two tokes then a toke every 45 minutes does not give the desired results.
I spent a lot of time napping recently. More than three tokes in rapid succession puts me to sleep about 45 minutes later. The clones budded in the main room do not do this.

This nap effect is from the creep, this UVB bud keeps working the mind for 45 minutes after ingestion, then the high stabilizes and fades over the next two hours.
My smoking habit changed to a toke every two hours yesterday, much less napping.

Personal highs are difficult to explain, but this is better in every respect (at the proper low dose) discernable over the control, as well as being more potent per toke.
This is a win-win for indica lovers.

Each toke affects my sinuses and eyes, twice to three times the watering.

Does not settle the stomach any better, a bit less effective. I have diabetes, lower GI tract acts hurt when sugar is high, smoking helps. Sativa helps best and this UVB indica helps least.

The 20" plant ended up with 6 lizard lights (24") set vertical 3" out from the lower branch tips. The buds right up against the lights (under 3") came out stunted, otherwise the entire yield was full size. Not larger.
Hairs had a reddish brown core from the second week on, but the count and growth were normal for the buds more than 3" from the tubes.
Trichome count was up slightly, but the actual weight of trichome's was down due to extreme thinness of the stalk and cap. Same creeper effect from the trichome coated shake leaf.

The UVB was fully effective to the maximum 15" penetration this grow required. Math indicates it should be good to 25".
Off topic, but math also indicates particles escaping from a black hole are in reality particles going into the black hole using reverse time. So much for my trust in math, I test first, then spend money.

The plant indicated it was ready for harvest at 41 days, close enough to the control so as to be irrelevant.

This is the change to the main budroom:
The ten 24" bulbs from the test will be spread between veg table and main budroom. Two 48" reptisun 10's have been added to the sidelights and four more are coming.
I already run 18 aquarium T8's at $22 each so $30 per tube for UVB isn't that big a change in expenses. Thank goodness the green requirements can be fully met with any $3 residential bulb out there, the 12 of them cost less than any 2 of the other bulbs.
But still, I am shelling out hard cash, my money is going where I feel it gives the best return.

My grow with Northern Lights and UVB. Small doses did not give this improvement, UVA gave no improvement at all. Many variables must be factored in and your results will most certainly vary, odds are a 50/50 split for being better or not better than these results.
