i recently bought 2 150 watt cfls with ballasts the bulbs are 5000kelvin. i thought they might work well to start outdoor plants this year. im going to stick with my 400 mh after trying them. but im going to build a box and try a scrog with them. my problem is im having trouble finding lower kelvin bulbs for the cfls like 3500k maybe. i have no expierience with cfls my local hydro stores dont get into them and searching on the net is how i found the 5000kelvins. but nothing lower.

You should be able to find the 2700K low wattage CFL's at a variety of places...even supermarkets sell them but I'd suggest you invest in either a HPS or a conversion bulb for your mh.

yea ive seen lower kelvins for 125s they would work in the ballst i have i believe it will take 100 to 150 watts i just wanted the brightest possible ive checked all the hardwear stores they mostly only go to 75 watts. these are actual 150 watt bulbs not the ones that say equall to 150 incandessant bulb. i know what you mean on the hps i dont rely on this for anything but something to do when its cold out my mothers are under the 400mh getting ready for outdoors this spring. i just bought the dam things and wanted to do something with them i thought they might work for a compact scrog setup. ive no expierience in this like i said but i figured id change the 5000ks to something more orange for flowering. well thanks for the help guys ill check hid hut
