I have 6 gavitas 1000w de in an open room.

Should I leave 1 light per 4x8 tray?
or would you guys do 1 per light with 1 cmh at the end of each tray?
I know that optimum space for DE is 4x6 and its best used in an open room, so light crossover will increase par rating, meaning i might be able to get away with just 6 lights? I dont really want to buy supplemental lighting
I have 6 trays total.

I used to run 4x8 trays. Two x 1kW single ended HPS was perfect for a tray. With DE HPS you can cover a little more area but not enough to cover a 4x8 tray with one light.

If you put the trays end to end and hung three lights so that the 6 foot dimension of the light footprint goes lengthwise you could cover two trays with three lights with a little overlap to prevent dim spots.
