1st grow indoor cfl & Taproot Up vs Down

First indoor grow and I've finally got some sprouts. I've tried to read as much as I could and came across alot of different posts claiming which way is the correct way to plant a seed after it's been germ'd. So I germ'd some seeds and planted half down and half up just to see. 3 have sprouted so far and the 2 with shells still stuck to them were the taproot down seeds. I wonder if thats a coincidence?

Hopefully they shake the shells in the next few days.

Another question. How close should my CFLs need to be when the seedlings are only a few days old? Should they be within 1-3in or do I wait until they get the first real set of leaves?

In nature, it doesn't matter which way the taproot grows, because it will always orient itself downwards in the soil attracted by heat.
Because few people actually use heat to attract the taproot downwards, it's best to already place it downwards.

The moment you see any green on your plants you kno they are ready to feed on that light. Yes, 1-3inch is enough.
