sup so finally I've gone n dunnit, just threw the seeds in the soil (germinating in moistened soil method, how nature intended lol) and am gonna sit lights on 24/0 for now.

details on the grow are -

mephisto Tyrone special auto/fem
324w quantum bad boy 6 bulb high output t5
2 gal smart pots half kind soil (bottom) half roots organic (top)
distilled water, no nutes unless they need them in flower or something
~2x4 grow space (2 plants would be a better fit but germinating all 3 seeds in case one fails or something)

also - my first reallll grow attempt aside from an outdoor bag seed that actually yielded enough for a blunt ;D will be kind of my practice or secondary/side grow once I get my gorilla tent n amare 450 (next week I think they'll be here)

follow along and help answer and ask questions - gimme a heads up if something ever seems off, not gonna be offended.

nothing to really talk about yet as nothing's really happening yet but here's a pic of setup:

edit: I know 66 degrees is a little low for germinating - had just flipped lights on and it'll warm to low-mid 70s for sure.

Looking for to see what you can do with these t5's! Do they run hot?
not terribly hot but they do give off some heat. raises heat of the 2x4 room about 7 degrees with a fan running, probably 10 degrees without a fan on it - doesn't feel that warm but that's what the thermometer says! xD

3/3 sprouted, 1 of which is off to a blazing start.
some quick questions if anyone's following.
is aluminized polyester the same thing as Mylar? bought a $2.50 emergency blanket cuz I forgot to buy reflective stuff from hydroponic store (gonna get some panda film or something when I head back anyway but) does Mylar increase the heat of a room? turned all lights on (only had 4/6 on initially) and temp in room was 75-77. the thermometer under the light went up to 80 something so I took out the emergency blanket/Mylar and idk if it changed anything but can't figure out what's going on. the room doesn't feel like it's in the 80s, putting hand under light doesn't feel hot, the bulbs are just lightly warm and the fixture barely above room temp. the thermometer above the light reads 75-77 and then a foot below it low 80s. is the thermometer being tricked by light or something? is its black color soaking in heat or something? is it really that hot in two diff areas of the room? xD

anyway, lookin good so far :3 put a cute little air purifier next to the vornado, match made in heaven.

k after running them 24/0 for several days now with some air circulation but no venting system it heats up the ~2x4 space it's in by about 5 degrees and it's a further 5 degrees warmer beneath the light (house is 72 degrees, closet 77, under the light 82). once they're beyond seedlings I'll move the fans to get more air out and in but just letting them be as it is.

Looking good. I also have a Strawberry Cake flowering under a 8 bulb T5ho fixture. Mine seems to love it so im sure you will be impressed with yours. Hope you have an awesome grow.

thanks man. going great so far - this morning the temp below the light matched the temp above the light (77) - not sure what that's about but i'll take it lol. one of the three little seedlings is reallllly taking off and i'm sure he'll be a beast (as beasty as t5 allows lol)

T5's from what i am seeing with mine can produce more than enough smoke to keep a personal user supplied. I decided to do a grow under mine from start to finish and it has surprised me. I usually just use it for veg but glad i tried it out. There's a picture of it in my journal in the recent post from a few days ago.

emergency blankets are thin mylar and work we as reflective material on walls with autos you should be able to grow 3 plants in a 2 by 4 foot grow room. I grow 3 photos under a 4 bulb fixture in a 2 by 4 foot closet and use those emergency blankets on the walls attached with double sided foam tape.the walls are painted white which may or may not help been growing this way for a few years with good results. I'M a PU MMJ grower and am able to produce enough to keep the medicine bowl full. check out the club T5 thread.a small fan would help with temperature but a 5-7 degree rise is no disaster

frosty buds :D lovely! and nice scrog, some people do theirs with too big of spacing and completely defeats the point lol.
Yeah i learned that with my 1st scrog with my Sour Diesel. Started with 4 inch squares and that was a pain in the ass. I had to add more screws and twine half way through because i got tired of having to use plant ties to tie my plant down to the net. Lesson learned 4 sure.

cool :D that's what i thought i guess. does the mylar (or other light reflective surfaces) effect the temp of the room do you know?

I have not seen it effect grow room temperature but it does help get light down to the lower branches.my light meter shows a big improvement in that area. a small 9 inch desk fan in my grow closet helps balance the temperature but I see less than a 4 degree rise in my closet so I don't really worry about it. u here in the high desert the air is thin and humidity rarely gets above 10% so these are bigger issues for me

ill be watching ;)
woooo :D

after i get a home inspection scheduled (insurance company needs to do a survey) and completed, i'll set up my 4x4 grow tent and amare se 450 - that'll def be one to watch too :P

and good to know man, thank you. there's so much misinformation on the web - "emergency blankets are aluminized polyester and not mylar, they'll reflect heat but not much light". yeah, even though aluminized polyester is what mylar is xD anyway, thanks for that.

gonna have one fan blowing out of the closet and one blowing in once the plants get a little more stable :D lucky that the closet space is working out without too much work. the tent will be another story i'm sure lol... time to look at inlines...

to add to my closet of mini machines I saw this little humidifier at the best buy checkout xD any clue if it'll harm the bulbs/ballast? throws off a tiny amount of moisture but have it in front of the fan so the moisture isn't accumulating anywhere

also: pics of the little seedlings. the beast, the runt, n the middle child xD
