2.5x1.5 cabinet (first grow)

Next grow I'll do 2 for sure, but I'd like to experience a grow start to finish before I do that. No point in messing up 2 plants this grow lol

These pics are from Wednesday I realize I never posted pics since she started taking off growing. She's chugging along smoothly, the new light doesn't appear to have shocked her cause every day I'm noticing new growth. She's really short and bushy, I raised the lights a bit hoping she'd stretch.

Here's a pic from this morning to compare with the pic from wednesday. Using the acurite thermometer as reference you can tell she's almost doubled in width in just those 2-3 days. Anyway, I feel like I'm probably posting in here too often so I'm going to lay off for a week or so unless something happens.

If it were me I would switch to pro-mix. I Got mine at menards 16 bucks. Online offers great deals on nutes, i run Fox farm. I've noticed my 300 watt $60 LED may actually be to bright for the tiny cabinet I have.If I were you I would split the cfl socket and run two cfls, or 6. Here's a pic of my old design.

Hey thanks for the recommendation. I was looking at roots organics but I'll give pro-mix a look too. I actually have a socket splitter but I think if my led is too bright I'll just raise it. Tastyled actually has rocker switch for veg/flower, veg is something like 30% dimmer

Well it's been almost a week, I was going to wait to post tomorrow when it'd been a week, but today while raising the light I dropped it and knocked the plant over. This is the second time I've knocked her over now so I'm investing in light hangers, they're only ~$7USD on amazon, so why not? I had to add more soil since I lost a lot of soil, and the roots got moved so I gave her some water to hopefully settle the soil and keep her from getting too stressed. I was going to water tomorrow anyway so hopefully she doesn't think I'm over watering her.

Anyway, here's 2 pics, one from before she got knocked over and one from after. You'll notice how far to the left she moved after I straightened her up (I guess this is a good thing because now she's centered in the pot lol). I'm really hoping this doesn't stunt her growth too much.

Well today's my little plant's 1 month anniversary. She's still super small for being a month old, probably to do with the hot soil and my near drowning her when she was just a baby. She's recently started burning a bit so I cut my soil with an additional 30% perlite and 30% coco coir and repotted her today! In about a week I'll probably end up topping her. This is the final pot she'll be growing in for size reasons. It's a 3gal (US)

Have you thought about doing a scrog? This is a 20x20 screen in a 2ftx2ftx3ft high box with HPS and CFL lighting. The screen can be made to fit your grow space.

I have thought about it and am still considering it. I was definitely going to manifold/mainline the plant and was going to use nebula's version of the technique. No one mentions scrog when they talk about manifolding, but I think they might work together. I'll probably end up giving it a shot

Since the transplant went so well, all the soil came out in one clump and the roots didn't get disturbed at all, and because she hasn't seemed stressed out (and also because I'm impatient as fuck ) I've decided to go through the first step of mainlining/manifolding. I probably won't use this technique in future grows because a 2 plant scrog have a much faster veg time, but I just wanted to try it since reading about it.

She was at around 7 nodes, and I removed all but her 4th node and fan leaves. I probably should have gone with the third node, since the suckers were quite a bit more developed, but the fan leaves on that node had a lot more nute burn. But in hindsight those suckers were so developed they probably didn't need full fan leaves, and I probably would have saved some veg time using the more advanced arms for the manifold.

I've also noticed since upping to the 3gal smart pot my humidity at night has soared to 88. My exhaust wasn't running at night, but the osculating fan was. I got another timer and now my exhaust turns on every 30 minutes for 15 minutes during the dark cycle.

I think initially the led was too close which was leading to over compactness. The first 3 nodes were like on top of each other, and initially my light was like 9 inches from my plant. After raising the light to a ft above the plant the 4th node and nodes after were a bit more spread out. Crazy how plants react like that

That's good news to me because I bought a few 30watt LED's to go in the upper corners of my PC tower. I'm just hoping it gives the extra umph I'm wanting.

What's the brand and model of lights you're using?

The light is from tastyled.com, but it's basically 2 cree cxb3590 COBs.

It's hard to believe it's been a week since I manifolded my plant, she's put on 3 new nodes on each side just those 7 days! I'm really liking how wide she's getting, it should really help fill out my rectangular grow space. The nute burn has really slowed down since I've been just feeding her water for the last 2 weeks. Today I decided to push my luck and gave her 1/4 strength of Grow More's Biocozyme (.3/.3/.05 NPK). Hopefully she doesn't burn again.

Nice job training so far. I believe the reason toxus recommended a scrog is the same as what im about to suggest. Since you have a confined maximum height and are using led mainlining really isnt the best method. People mainline mostly outdoors or withbig hps bulbs in order to get usually 8/16 top colas and let them stretch it out and get huge.

When you have a confined space and an led which has less penetration then an hps you are already tieing your plant down and topping to keep the canopy level so you dont outgrow your space. Thats half way to scrog already. Keeping all the bud sites even at the same level ensures you dont run out of room also the bud sites receive even light distribution.
If you had a 7ft tent and some cxb3590s id be all for an indoor mainline. But scrog just lends itself right to led grows. Such nice yield. Im excited to watch this turn out.

Thanks for the post! Actually tastyLED is made with high bin cxb3590s, but I get your point. I think main lining could be useful for getting larger yields, but it comes at the cost of more time in veg and more stress on the plant which could lead to it going all herm up in here. I'll definitely be doing a 2 plant scrog next time, and I'm in the process of implimenting a screen with this grow, but I'm still working on the screen's support structure, probably going to be a peg system.



Anyway guys, this week was pretty uneventful, I'm not sure this plant is ever going to make it to the point where it's wide enough to fill the cabinet, especially in a 3gal smart pot. I did give the plant some 1/4 strength grow nutes about 4-5 days ago and the plant didn't really appear to burn any more than what has been going already. This week I'll hit it with half strength. Like I mentioned above I'm starting to impliment a screen so I can SCROG it up. I'm also probably going to finish a small 1x1x2high box just to veg small plants just to start out little seedlings in, and I'll probably pop 2 new beans about a month before harvest so I can get a little perpetual grow action going.

I'm planning on flipping my current plant to flower on 4/20 regardless of size, both for the obvious reason and also because she'll have been in veg for 2 months at that point.

I saw after i posted that your light is the cxbs lol. Anyway! Yeah its just hard when mainlining cause they grow so tall and close to the light. These new leds can bleach your buds and burn your leaves if too close. My last grow the tops were 12" from my lights and im using area 51 leds from 2 years ago. Didnt bleach but my sugar leaves all got burnt up. Im hoping it doesnt happen to you.
