You could find a filter just like this that is not as much of a cone, that would be ideal. They have them at alot of auto stores.

Ok I am doing a cabinet grow and its 2'x2'x6' . What size filter would I have to get. I am thinking of two of the small goped ones bc I am using two pc fans for exhaust fans. Would that work.

planning a grow myself at some point and am very interested in this , my question is would a decent computer fan be able to handle this ? and does a carbon filter need to be on both outtake and intake ?

So im guessing no one has gotten this to work? I bought all this shit and buit it but was aware i needed a damn blower to push air thru it, well good thing i only spent 30$,guess ima buy a filter and a fan... Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.....

Sweet idea, this could have saved me a lot of pain and money had I found this thread earlier. I spent over $40 dollars and a whole day building a scrubber from the ground up a few years ago.

Ok so here it is.

Get 1 x cotton air filter. You can get these really cheap from car modiying shop or e bay. Cheap and nasty works fine cos we are only trying to keep carbon in and not stop microscopic particles of dust out of an engine.

Get a bag of activated carbon. Got mine from a pet shop.

Turn filter upside down.

Open bag of carbon cutting only one end of net bag and pour into the filter, tapping the filter as you go along to make sure it is filled properly. Fill up to neck. Some people like to crush carbon but this works for me and if it ain"t broke.............

Get a piece of pvc pipe or a bend as i have.

Place net bag over one end. (preferably the end that fits into the filter.

Insert into filter and tighten the jubilee clip on the filter.

That is it. Works gret on small grow boxes. Just clamp it to your exhaust.
Would any similar filter work?? I've seen that but it was shaped differently.

Actually a faster more likely to be safe (health wise) way to no smell is the small portable electric scrubber, but if you really want to DIY without using fishtank carbon try using the wrap that is for filter systems and comes with velcro straps. Both can be had easily and fairly reasonably at scentless.bz The portable scrubber though means you dont have to do squat except plug it in. My idea for dealing with odor issues...
