2013 – Three Strains That Mattered

A growing number of people are now beginning to understand that the Marijuana/Cannabis flower is an amazing medicine. The plant which produces the bud/flower has long been considered a proverbial outlaw, thanks to propaganda, ignorance, and intolerance. The plant requires thinking people to bend laws which have been created based on greed and morals, rather than science or statistics. Creating criminals from citizens, and making medical advocates of parents, forced to fight for their sick kids.

Demonized, outlawed, condemned and embattled – 2013 is the year marijuana fought back – with the help of a strong supporting cast, these three strains helped to prove weed can be both a beneficial medicine, as well as a creative activity.

Harlequin:

A Sativa dominant hybrid (approximately 75/25 Sativa to Indica) recognized within the MMJ world for its high CBD to THC ratio, and often recommended as the ‘go to’ flower for many medical marijuana patients around the country. Harlequin has a long history of helping patients with spasms, anxiety, nausea, pain and stress. The flavors provided by the terpenes of the Harlequin plant provide a subtle yet satisfying exhale, laced with spiced fruit and essence of earth. Due to the THC to CBD percentage, the high allows for clear thinking, while the CBD cannabinoids work behind the scenes, healing a multitude of ailments.

Girl Scout Cookies:

A genetic Frank-n-seed, created by some of the mad breeders in northern California; Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) lineage reeks of both ominous warnings (Durban Poison) and delicious invitations (Cherry Kush) at the same time…sort of an oxymoron of weed. Straight from the lab, this OG Kush x Cherry Kush x Durban Poison was then further enhanced by being backcrossed with another potent OG Kush father, firing up another legend in the annals of northern California cultivation. For medicinal purposes this strain is perfect for helping those that suffer from stress, depression, insomnia, nausea, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, and pain related to PMS. Vegetate your ladies as long as you want (size permitting), once they’ve been switched to their flowering cycle, in approximately 10 weeks you will have flower rich in THC (low 20%) and CBD (approximately 1%) cannabinoids.

Amnesia Haze:

A predominantly Sativa hybrid from back in the bad old days of 2004, when the only place to compete in a High Times Cannabis Cup (for recreational purposes) was in Amsterdam, Amnesia Haze killed it at the 2004 HTCC – winning first place for the Sativa highbred division. A predominantly lemon tasting, citrus centric flavor dominates this strain, leaving the consumer filled with creative thoughts, energetic impulses, and a modified euphoric take on the world around them. Amnesia Haze is beneficial for those trying to push back on the stress of daily living and those occasional migraine headaches that can stop a day in its tracks. Most medical marijuana patients have given this strain multiple ‘thumbs-up’, though paranoids beware. As this is a Sativa hybrid, some patients have issues with amplified anxiety and paranoia. Producing buds that range in the low 20% for THC, Amnesia Haze will complete her flowering cycle, and be ready for harvest in approximately 12 to 13 weeks.
