First I'm a lil sad I didn't get to meet any of you guys, lol.

HB420 said he would be there so I told the woman to look out for peeps wearing 14er gear but no luck, lol.

And I'm just now realizing that I have some of your phone numbers, should have called and/or sent you mine on the forum ahead of time.

The main problem was that fucking MED letter. Dispensaries want to give out free dabs and shit, and if the law allowed would prob give away samples. But they hit them with that letter a few weeks before the cup and fucked everyone basically. They aren't going to risk their business to promote it.

Hopefully, eventually, they will actually treat it like alcohol, but for now lets just be happy any of this is even possible.

There were booths giving out dabs and flower rips. There were also booths selling bud and extracts. Mostly it was the non-MED regulated companies and companies from out of state.

One booth was selling flower, dabs, and Mothership raffle tickets.

OMFG, LOL. There was this uber Massachusetts fat couple standing next to the BioBiz booth trying to sell cuts for $100 - $300. One was supposedly the ogbk for $300 I thought. They even said $100 for GG4. I laughed in his face. I was like bro, you are in Denver, selling "elite" genetics from the west coast, that you claim comes from Massachusetts, for outrageous prices. He's like "yea but its the real ogbk."

I wasn't really on the look out for genetics but there was plenty around. Including some after cup seed bank/swaps at events, prob tonight as well.

Got up there about 10am and was not in the venue until about 1230. The line was absurd and the processing of people was amateur. Lots of smoking in line, security was hollering that it was not cool to do so but everyone ignored them. Product was non-existent for sale or consumption. We walked around and smoked our own just like everyone else.

Over-all I give it a D.

I guess I was hoping that it would have been more entertaining and educational but it was really just a bunch of sketchy carnival booth type shit. If you do not have enough brand stickers and wanna stock up I recommend it, if you looking for something other than that you will be disappointed.

We got there around 9. Chillin in line was cool till the dude no one could hear with the megaphone moved everyone inside way too early. Then yea, that was funny as hell when the inside area started getting hotboxed, lol. I'm just glad no one lit up cigarettes, that shit was already killing me outside. And yea, that dude, same dude I think, comes out and yells to stop lining people up. Why he did that I have no idea still, lol.

Btw, I think the best panels are today, yesterday had a few good ones too but I was only going yesterday and just for glass mostly. Did you go to any of the panels or are you saying it was noneducational based on the booths? The booths are 90% promoting or selling products, that's what it is supposed to be so, I dunno about your D grade. I got to get some nice shit on the cheap and got to talk to people from the companies and breeders I like and ask about their products and whatnot. Feels like you are judging it based on expectations that it should be something different. The only carnival shit I saw was The Clinic booth, which was yea, set up like a mini carnival deal, prob cuz they got fucked out of being able to give away dabs and shit and had this huge booth outside with room for a dab bar and shit that they couldn't have bc they are MED regulated.

Which btw, did you notice some Co companies that last year had big booths outside and gave out lots of dabs seemed to know ahead of time about the MED bullshit and had (cheaper)indoor booths this time? That's MMIG, lobbying, and cronyism at work. They knew the hammer was coming down on all the MED regulated companies and left others to swing in the wind with a last minute notification. It's why THE had their Cali counterparts sharing their booth giving out dabs. Fucking RR and TGS and shit knew ahead of time, they might have even been behind it, just like when they basically had the MED shut down EE so they could try to take over the IWE market. Too bad their product is total shit and EE is killing it once again taking shit over, lol.

Agreed that the MED letter fucked shit up and THAT is the problem. All the points you make here I take issue with, not with you but the points. The citizens of this State (in a significant majority) voted to treat this plant the same as beer. It says right there in the Constitution:

No where does it say that cannabis should not be distributed freely amongst free people, or sold at a fucking cannabis convention.
Go to a beer festival. There is beer being given away and sold everywhere and it should be rightly so.

I honestly did not see any of that.
The only thing I saw as far as THC being offered for sell was some cannabis mac&cheese and some seeds.
I saw people smoking there own shit (myself included) and some dabbing that I saw some folks hand their shit to a tender and then the tender burn it for them. I have never dabbed and specifically wanted to try it there for the first time so I was on the look out. Big bummer I missed it.

I am basing it on the over all experience.
If you go to a boat convention they have boats. They have boat parts. They have tools and supplies.
They DO NOT have booths dedicate to only t-shirts and hats; it is not an over-all experience of carnival wallet raping.

I appreciated the smoking hot female ass cheeks.

I guess I expected a more organized celebration of marijuana the plant and not the carnival.
I did not make any of the presentations...I got high as fuck and got lost in the absurdity. I was disappointed that there were only two while we were there and of course disappointed with myself for missing those. But that is irrelevant as my feelings would be the same had I actually made those.

I guess I did not expect a Munchen Oktoberfest. I have been to a couple of those and I was disappointed as well BUT at least they have actual carnival rides.

Agreed on the whole treat cannabis like alcohol. I really wish they would.

Unfortunately, the reality of things is, the MED runs the shit, and they did not implement the system in the spirit of what was voted for. However, they did not make these decisions unilaterally. There was plenty of lobbying from corporate interest(aka dispensary owners and MMIG) as well as public and private interest groups(SAM, That one bitch, etc). This combined with virtually no effort from the actual cannabis community in effecting these laws has resulted in the current system and regulations.

This brings me back to REALITY Vs. your idealized vision. And your responses reinforce this expectation problem you seem to have. You can't judge a thing for what you think it should be. Nor should you judge it based on a peripheral, or surface, impression. As you have admitted that is what you have done. Not seeing all the booths giving out dabs, selling seeds, selling products. And not attending any of the panels. Which btw, last year the dab and grow panels where extremely educational.

The actual cannabis cup, aka the judging and awards and shit, has been a joke for a very long time. Sure, legit people win cups. But when TGS is winning shit every year, it's clear the shit is skewed/biased/rigged/etc.

Carnival is a very inept analogy btw, carnivals aren't really about selling products so much as rides and attractions, lets' call it the booths. The booths, I feel, are exactly as promised. Some selling shit, some giving out dabs to attract people to their booth, some simply promoting their products, etc.

In all honesty, the cannabis cup is not really for me. I like being able to spend the day looking at cool glass and buying some shit below retail and tax free. That's it really, I don't enjoy the other aspects. But for what it is, I would say it's a pretty good event and for thousands of others, it's an experience of a life time.

I ended up having such a shitty weekend. Let an assload of folks down, @shishkaboy so sorry. A number of issues prevented me from attending, however, the MED issued a a bulletin stateing essentially if any licensed individual was caught distributing ANYTHING regulated badge revoked, potential of employer being shut down...blah blah. My boss didn't want me to go. banned me from wearing any logo of 14er. And I got the day wrong in true stoner fashion I SWEAR I bought the damn thing for SAT. But i didnt. Next year I WILL have a workaround. sorry im a little jaded today.
Sorry I missed you all. Maybe I will visit another cup in another city, some day

My plans got screwed up a bit as well brother, but I kinda have this "just go with the flow" thing about me and ended up at the smokeout during my search for the for the bus station.

Smoked some good bud, met some interesting people and got some reviews on my own strain from some Denver folks. Bro I had a blast, no worries at all.

But I do have a question for the locals. While I was in Denver it seemed to me that just about everywhere I went people were smoking the same strain. I cant really place the terps, I have not smelled anything like this before. Its very earthy and musky, with just a tinge of sweetness to it.

The issue is I popped some bag seeds a few months back that have this same type of smell and I am digging for info.

Sounds like kush to me.

I have a whole rant on kush in and of itself. To me there are 3 differnt clasifictions; Sweet(Triangle), Savory(WiFi musk/earth), and what I call Fresh(Goji - kinda like savory mixed with grass, lol) Also wtf is chem? lol. I always associate chem with kush but now that I think about it haven't have any chem named strain in years.

No matter where I got one, no matter if it was trim, shake, bud, whatever. I always tasted the same flavor. So there is something in the air, or lack of o2 or something that makes joints taste wierd to me, lol. But not like you describe.

I would have to imagine that the air in your house would be the same as the air outside your house.

I am pretty sure it's not a Kush smell at all, not one that should be labeled a Kush anyway. Kush is lot fresher of a smell than what I am talking about.

Part of the reason that I asked this question here is if a planter were to come to ny and experience a flavor that they had never had before. I would ask them one question, was is really really loud and pungent?
If they said yes, I would be confident in telling them they just had their first encounter eith sour diesel or a diesel cross at least.

This brings me to chem. Around here everything is sour, even if it isn't sour, it's called sour. Any hint of chem in a strain and its called sour in ny.

When I went to the clinic in Denver, the Rec one, they had sour diesel there. I knew I would be able to Judge their quality by the authenticity if the sour d.

When she opened the jar I immediately recognized the fox tailed structure. But there was one problem, sour is infamous for its super loud stench. When this jar was opened it didn't jump out and hit you in the face like sour back home does.

I needed to get really close and stir my nose in the jar to get the smell. This is very common in ny, many people have sour but few have that roundhouse kick you in the face smell. Any regular ny smoker can tell the different as soon as we smell it.

The smell that is so alluring about sour comes from its chem dawg background. If you are not sure what chem is go to the rec clinic in Denver and smell the sour d they have, then you can either multiply that flavor x 3 or you can get some death star and subtract the hint of lemon that the deathstar has, that leaves you with the sour/chem flavor.

I know the smell your talking about shishk, i smelled it the entire time in denver. I thought it was incense smelling sorta. I figured it was low grade poorly grown commercial herb being smoked all around me. 99% of the people at cup had NO idea what good grown herb looks or smells like. Even the cup entries were subpar looking, only maybe 5 were what i would consider worthy entries.

Actually i got 3 samples from BOG. Sour bubble, sour grape, and blue kush. They were terrible. Besides being wet and killing flavor they all tasted the same which to me is sign of lower skilled grower. No way SB was 23.5% either. I actually gave a few grams of it to random people i disliked it so much. I bought a pack of sour grape since i grew grape punch about 10 years ago, im giving to a friend after smoking his samples, ive grown about 6 of his strains in past. I liked chatting with BOG but his elite grower card is revoked in my book.

Haha, yea, we used to go to The Clinic a lot for their live resin. I've tried most all of their strains btw. The problem with the clinic is, all their shit looks good in the jar but doesn't have much smell or flavor. I don't think they cure properly or something. Then you get the prepacked bud that often doesn't look anything like the nugs they showed you.

Now, Sour-D lol. There is much mix up over sour d around here. I've had the sour d flowers and ice wax from Kind Love as well as several sour d varites from CAM. I know the sour-d flavor, or at least what they call sour-d in Co. There is also AJ's SourD, NYCD, ONYCD, ECSD, and others, lol. I don't remember Chemdawg or any others having that distinct flavor.

BTW, Deathstar is similar to more sweet kush/ogs to me.

As for the smell of everyone's bud, I'm not sure what you are getting. All I can tell you is musk/earth/sweet sounds like og/kush to me. I'm a fan of the more sweet stuff, Triangle is my fav, closest other strains would be the 92 OG CAM had or sort of like SFV.

And yea man, I totally agree about the air in my house but I'm telling you something is different somehow. Smoking inside vs out, i dunno if it's the smog, air, what. Also, my torch sometimes has a different flame if I open the front door. I think its something to do with the altitude.
