When I first got my clones, the guy gave me a few extras (due to the volume of the order). The extras were pretty established and ended up towering over the ten that I paid for. I ended up bending, lst-ing, supercropping and all but they still took up too much room. I didn't want to sacrifice any light by raising my lights to accommodate 3 plants so I put them outside. Of course, they went directly into flower and I couldn't be more pleased. Now, since the sun is out more, I take my plants into a tent at night and put them back out before I go to work around 9am so they can get the beauty rest those flowers need. I have one cheese, one critical kush and a purple dream. It's pretty rad comparing the three strains, side by side. They are all growing differently and all have unique PUNGENT smells!

This is great stuff! I'm absorbing as much outdoor knowledge as I can. Tried once and had tiny plants, basically left them way out in the bush and hoped for the best never went back until harvest, that was longass time ago. Now I'm in it to win it. Gorgeous plants and setup man! I wanna see what happens. :leaf:
(Thanks for sharing.)
I came to California from Alaska where if you grow, there's a 95% chance it's indoors. Last year I landed on a small patch of land and gave growing outdoors a shot and was taken completely out of my element. I went from having 100% control of my plants environment to having almost no say. I grew 5 plants in a raised bed. I think I pulled MAYBE 2 1/2 pounds of all 5. It was terrible. I had to deal with heat stress, grasshoppers, ground squirrels, etc.. This year, I put a bunch of planning to work. I got my veg lights and clones early on because I knew I wanted trees this year. I dug that pit and installed those shade cloths to regulate the heat and make sure none of the ladies get burnt. I put them in pots this year and layed down some rockgaurd to thwart off those filthy, disease ridden, buck tooth, weed munching bastard squirrels.
I'm constantly learning. Constantly evolving. I didn't know what I was going to do trellis wise because these gals exploded and I wanted them to fill out. So after a few days I decided to wrap the pots with wire mesh trellis. After I pulled some branches through the holes and waited a couple days, all the side branches are growing out and up creating more colas while supporting the whole plants weight

What do you thnk(I'm planning in advance for next years season where I'm located), is 2months vegging a clone under HID's before putting them out a good number/timing for some nice 1/2p++ plants each? strain permitting of course.

I went 180 degrees from that this year. Last year when the rains stopped, I had a lot of losses. Big plants need more water to survive, and most of my patches were of Darwin Dope. This year I waited until June to pop seeds so they will be smaller in September and October, when we didn't get a drop of rain last year. My luck, it will rain steady the rest of the year and I could have put out 100 with no problems.

I think that 2minths is an excellent amount of time to veg before putting them outside! HIDs will ensure they get THICK before they go outside. If I could make a suggestion, look up the civil twilight hours in your area and set a timer on your lights accordingly. That'll prevent them from going into shock / flower right away.
Another factor you've got to consider is how much soil are you planning to dedicate to each plant? The bigger the roots, the bigger the fruits!!!
I vegged my clones for about two months under t5 fluorescents and not only did I save a bunch on electricity, the plants looked just as good as if they were under my metal hiliade; just not as thick. I didn't have to worry that much in regards to heat either, just trained a couple fans on em and they were good

Good advice. But I use the actual sunrise and sunset for length of day for my records {as far as going into flower and safe to put out in the Spring} so that I will know what to expect next season. But as long as you stick to one or the other and keep good records {like posting on your thread}, you will know what to expect in the future.

So you're basically saying if I put monsters out there, be ready for their water requirements?
Thank you.

Civil twilight hrs, got it. Thank you! Appreciate it bigtime. very good info. Lots of rich ammendments in the soil, with lots of pre-composting time, with lots of soil for monsters, watch out for ammendments that attract animals. I'm goin all out next season. Thanks tons man.

Back to our regularely scheduled program.

Good afternoon everyone!!! This morning I snapped a few more photos. I'm amazed with how well these gals are doing with strictly well water, amended soil and a dash of microcaze(?). I've got the proper nutes already, I just can't find the time to get a truck to pick up a resivour. Last year I used a trash can and gravity fed but I'm not getting fish emulsion in my mouth again, I can taste it now as I write this just thinking about it....

Thanks man! This is only my second outdoor grow so I'm still learning along the way. I appreciate your enthusiasm as it encourages me to keep it up! Honestly bro, I've got a vision board in my bedroom with treeeees all over it because that's what I want. I was skeptical at first but now I've got trees! We can accomplish anything if we work hard enough to get it!!

That would taste bad. You can put a spigot on the bottom of a steel trash can. I'm looking to do that to one of my rain-catchers.

Your plants are looking good.
