Hello everyone here at RIU!

This will be my second journal here and boy am I excited!

The setup...

Strain:
Big Diesel from Gunjah Seeds

Lights:
2x Viparspectra R900 LED panels.
--->One has the veg/bloom option but will be run full spectrum.

Training:
5'x2' ScrOG

Medium:
2x 7 gallon smart pots

B.U.D. organic soil amended with worm and bat guano, as well as, kelp, alfalfa, blood, and bone meal.

Nutrients:
Only teas made from the above amendments during veg, and then just molasses during flower.

Opening notes:
Just started germination while my two tangie girls finish up. If the seeds pop before my current ladies finish, they'll hang out on the porch for a week while they get started.

Very nice! Thank you, same here. My last couple of grow cycles I just didn't have time to keep a journal up on.

How did his last crop turn out? Last time I saw they were monsters under those lights. Also, what's the model of light? I haven't run across that manufacturer yet.

Journal update:

Due to the back half of my closet making it near impossible to manage the plants once into the screen, I've decided that I'll be trying the Nebula Haze manifold technique. I've never tried high-stress training like this before, so it should be interesting. Also, instead of two plants, I'll be going with three (so long as all three seeds are female). I'm secretly hoping to get a male to throw outside for breeding purposes, but am not at all opposed to all fems as three will fill out the 5'x2' area nicely with the manifold training.

With that said, all three seeds have popped, and have been planted. I'll post some pictures once they break ground.

It's officially day one of veg as they've broken ground. The one in the back is still working on opening up but keeping relatively on schedule with the other two. And the fourth one in there (the small pot) is Delicious Candy from Delicious Seeds that will be going outside. I can't wait for these next two or three weeks to go by so I can start the manifold. :)IMG_0246.JPG

When my new round of seeds arrive I'll probably be growing a g13 labs midnight kush, I have grown it out door and it was amazing and now that I am 100 percent indoor I figured why get a 600w light when a 900 was only ten more then the particular model I was going to buy which was the viparspectra par600 the 3 switch system ..... so I really hope to see some awesome results here and some ideas of what to look forward to....

Welcome to my journal! One of my lights is an older R900 before they introduced the bloom/veg switches, and I can safely say I prefer the spectrum mix of the newer model as it looks much more even, where the older model definitely is heavier on the blue spectrum. After this next cycle, should I get close to my target yield I'll probably pick up another R900 to replace the older model, (but I'm heavily considering a DIY COB setup). My first grow using the older model just over a QP with a very conservative grow. I think these lights definitely have potential of you can dial in the rest of the grow. I'll post the link to the full journal from the that grow for you when I do my journal update a little later tonight.

I would like to go cob my self but building my own light system seems above my abilities, probably not, but I hate failure....

I'm going for size and quality, I would rather less big dense buds overy tons of little scraggly buds..... I used to use a 400w switchable, but the bill for the power was getting a bit much at times when it shouldn't be high so I figured led would be a good way to cut down a little ... but my down fall here is I went with a 900w led which allegedly pulls around the same power as my old 400hid system. I am really looking forward to putting all up and running a soIid grow with it, but I did a dry run to check tempos and it was a little high for my liking I think I should have went with 6 inch fans instead of 4s. Or at least one 6 inch....... might just order one and call it a day, but I do have a portable air conditioner that I plan to incorporate.

Indo enjoy watching other people and their methods. I have learned a lot here over the years......

With enough knowledge and the right equipment the limits are endless. RIU has been my go to since my first grow 8 years ago, the wealth of knowledge here is amazing!

And, yeah I've noticed the heat output of the higher intensity LED panels is relatively close to what my 400w HID set up was producing, not necessarily from the heat generated by the exhaust of the enclosure but the heat generated by the lights themselves (if that makes sense?) . Right now with a 20" box fan venting up into my attic at over 1000 cfm, the temps in the closet easily reach the low 90's with the door closed, but I'll be cutting a hole in the door and getting an intake fan to pull air into the dead spot in the back. The exhaust fan just pulls more air out than what's coming in with the door closed so my ventilation right now is a little counter productive.

Here's the link to the first run I did with the older light.

One thing I've noticed since switching to LED's is that the plants turn into phosphorous hogs halfway into flower. Each of my last three cycles growing different strains but ran pretty much identically as far as soil/amendments go, ran into the same phosphorous deficiency.
