30 days into flowering:HINDU KUSH & BIG BUD

my roomate got over being scared of the police comin in and raping our lives. Were back in action and 30 days into flowering. Anyone and everyone let us know what you think of our plants, its our first grow and we put a lot of money into it so we tried to make it as good as possible. We started flowering when they were about 20 inches tall and now some of them are 5 feet tall we really have no clue how this happened. The ones in the hydro got that big but the ones in the soil are sitting at about 2 and a half feet to 3 feet tall. We first had a 600 watt light but in the last month we have added a 400 watt light. Our grow space is about 5 feet by 4 1/2 feet ceiling is about 8 feet high. Some of our plants have gotten a little burnt at the top cause we have no where to put our lights. We are using the canna nutrients including cannazym, substra flores a and b, pk 13/14, and some other stuff, we were told it was the best. Anyways here are some pics let us know what you think.

i was never paranoid but my buddy was. He gave me the ok to post some pics. let me know if these buds are looking up to par for 30 days into flowering. When should i see the explosion of big buds forming i got 1000 watts with a 600 and a 400 with some really good nutes.

Looking sweet balls for only 30 days into flowering, you stated adding a 400w with a 600 how do you distribute the light evenly, wont some of your plants receive more light than others? resulting in a smaller yield for some.

yes that could happen but we figured the more light the better it cant hurt. We keep them pretty close to eachother so its kinda like one bulb up there but the light spreads more directions and hits more plants then a 1000 watt would. what would be ideal is 2 600 watt lights but we didnt want electricity too high. and thanks for the comments any info is helpfull

Looks good for 30 days....you will have to drop the hight of the 400 if you want your plants to get the same lumens as your 600...Mabey keep the hydro plants under the 600 and drop the 400 over the soil plants. you could also tie down your tall plants if you have vertical room..Some people just bend over the main stem of the tall plants..It hurts me to even think of bending my plants over, but it is a way to control hight. Looks good man, you should be peaking on your nutrient this week. What is your ppm? I have heard alot of great things about Canna...Gl

thanks for the feedback. yeah i think we are going to bend over some of the plants within the next few days. our ppms were at 1240ppm the day we filled our res with fresh water and nutrients. according to the canna chart we were right at the top of the levels that they want us to be at. im going to check it tomorrow to see if that has changed at all. it seems as though our plants are consuming alot of water right now... is this normal during these stages for plants this size? also being that we are 4 weeks into flowering should we expect the buds to be larger at this point or will they develop more in the next few weeks? looking at other peoples journals ive noticed that their buds appear much larger at 4 weeks than ours...

they look like they may of stretched from heat, but seeing as you vegged them to 20"it will take abit to fill out, mine were like that from high heat.but they are not that far behind they look about right.

hmm thats interesting about the heat. Its very strange i have some really bid thick bud that is growing that is at the same hight as some bud that looks absolutely like shit and not thick at all. i have branches coming from the bottom of the plant that have grown about 3 to 4 feet high that are really nice lookin buds but then the main stem does not look at good even though they are getting the same light. I will actually show some pics hopefully later tonight. If anyone has an answer for me that would be cool

ps. i picked up some clones at a club they are grand daddy purp, purekush and sour diesel mixed, bubba kush, and some stuff called purp. If anyone has smoked these and would let me know if any of these are good stuff i would appreciate it.

ok so here is what i mean when i say for some reason some bud is a lot thicker and more developed than other ones even though they are coming off the same plant for the most part.

Looks like it is a light intensity problem...Are the branches that have very little bud development top branches or lower branches? It look like in the photo's that branches that are in direct light are developing very nicely!

i don't think its the light intensity because they are all getting about equal light because they are all about the same hight. I have heard a few different things that could possibly make this happen. 1. we started flowering from seed at about 38 days old, so maybe some parts of the plants have not developed as quickly as other parts??? 2. for a good month right before flowering and during we had the room at about 91 degrees during the day, which can cause heat stress, and cause the plant to stretch and not produce bud in a normal fashion??? I really don't think its the light because some of the ones that are not producing well have a ton of light on them. if anyone else has any answers for me don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks.

Hey WeedBro, I re-read this thread and noticed you saying that the slow growth is on main stems, that are in direct light. Sorry for my last reply. Ok, man that is a strange problem. Are the plants that are doing this the most, in the hottest part of the room? Then I would have to lean towards heat being the problem. How many plants are doing this? Are they all the same strain, and if they are all from seed do they look like the same Pheno? What I am asking is, do some of the plants take more to the sativa side, and if so maybe they are just taking longer to develop..... Interesting problem..I am kind of new, but I don't think I have seen this before..Maybe you should PM an elder at this site about this.....GL

i had the same problem,it was caused by heat,it never did recover the lost time from the heat stress, but it did finish with a very good potency, just not the usual weight, and spaceing between main colas.it is important to keep an eye on your heat, and that the buds are not to close as to burn from the light from here on out,and just grow them out.

thanks guys, yea i would say that the shorter plants which i have seven in the hydro are producing good bud and some parts of the tallest ones are producing good bud. I have noticed the tallest part of the plant is where the good bud is not forming. The tallest plants do seem to be the most effected by this. The stretching i think definitely played the biggest role in the bud production that i think was caused by the heat like trapper said. Right now the room is not a heat issue, the temp sits at no higher than 82 during the day and around 75 at night. The plants have seemed to be getting better the last 3 to 4 days. Hopefully it keeps getting better because its discouraging to look at.

Girls are looking nice! :blsmoke: Its a forest in there

If you got room you should try tying down the plants on angles so the WHOLE plant gets light..like on the sides too, it should increase your final yield :joint:

ya i actually got a lot of the plants slanted because they were getting too tall and just about touching the light. it is nice because the light penetrates a little deeper to the bud that usually doesn't get much light. Im already thinking about my next grow, i think were going to put twelve plants in the hydro system but making them much shorter and maybe do a sea of green.

Question, when you say the room is 82deg, are you taking that reading from somewhere other then the area where your tallest plants are? I would check the temp next to the top of the plants. As far as leaning over your plants, I have one problem with that system, the bottom half of the bud does not mature as quickly as the top half that is getting all the light. This affects some strains more then others...
