3000k 3500k 4000k COB?

On a side note so far I'm thinking of going 3500k as I think it will be a good mix.
what your grow height and veg time? The 3k makes some stretch to far if the veg time is more than 3wks. 3500 would do the same if your full cycle them? just my opinion and givin ya the heads up watch the stretch in veg!

I normally veg for 4-5 weeks depending on the strain. If they start stretching to much I'll cut the veg time and do the switch earlier.

Top-performing reflectors lose about 7% of output. I can't say for sure but I think that cheap reflectors lose much more that this.
I would like to get a single Cob90watt w/reflector and see? you rec one? or a 60 with a cxb3070 in it?

lenses drop temp. You lose light output with the reflectors. How much? What do I know though? I m just a grower at heart:weed:
Let me guess...you read supra say he thought the temp with lenses are slightly warmer???
Untrue and even supra has taken back that statement.

Light is part of the colors you see from an object or surface...not just the object or surfaces natural color. Lights have a fixed number of photons...and thus amount of color. So if you focus it with a lens it will seem darker or warmer. While spread it out thinner over a larger area will lighten it up.
Think of it like paint on a white surface. You need thickness to cover the white. Not thick enough and the white shows through a little and you have a lighter color...but that is only to your eyes because it's not as bright per area(ppfd). Not the actual light emitted as the SPD of the lamp.

@Greengenes707 may I ask why you opted to go for 3500k on your CX300? I watched your YouTube videos where you had the 3000k, 4000k and the Apache grow each with their differences.

What differences positive or negative did you notice between the 3000k and 4000k and that influenced you to go 3500k? Thanks.

2700 probably isn't the best choice simply because there is a notable efficiency drop from 3000 to 2700.

As far as plant growth characteristics I have noticed slight variations. Approaching 4000K node distance decreases slightly and plants are slightly bushier, though in practice any of the spectrums you are asking about will produce bushes. The only recommendation I might offer is that if you are height limited, going with 4000K might save you a few inches of growth, but again slight is the best description between the differences IME.

If you're coming from a situation experiencing unwanted stretch under CFL or HPS, you will not be disappointed with any K choice using white LED, though to be clear I have not used 2700K so can't really comment on growth characteristics using it.

On a side note I just seen the Mars Hydro advertising on RIU. Those lights look basically identical to Blackdog lol..

Mars Hydro rebranded?

And guys just out of curiosity, I've noticed and seen how MH has a bad rap on most forums, but I've actually seen some solid grows from their lights. There's a guy I follow on IG who's pulling some awesome results from his MH, how?

That's not to say I'm swayed in any way lol!

Blackdog led uses proprietary full-cycle Phyto-Genesis Spectrum. and all "top bin" leds. So they must be the best. and at $2400 for their largest light, its a steal, lol

I actually want to meet some of the people that fork over $2400 for this garbage.
Yeah I've seen that secret sauce spectrum that they don't disclose and the fact that they don't tell us which LED that they use is also suspect, although I have seen some solid grows from their lights, and that they've released a grow light that's supposed to be the best lol

Still don't trust them though...

Oh and another thing I've noticed with Blackdog is they look virtually identical to Mars II. I've heard a few people say that they are the same light made in the same factory, is that true?

Off-topic as usual;

I don't think laziness is a bad thing. In fact, laziness can drive innovation, strangely enough. What a paradox, right? Ask any computer programmer, many of the improvements to a system come from automating or simplifying as many things as possible, to avoid the duplication of effort (automation), and limit technical debt (simplification). I think you have to have a little hubris

That said, the name-calling, especially homo-hating name calling is pretty lame, and you should probably be set on fire for it, Nice1Son. But I'm not here to judge you, I'll let the rest of the internet do that, they seem to be experts.

I'm an IT Virtualization guy. I got out of the OS/Hardware side and started doing that because i'm inherently lazy. I totally agree with on laziness birthing innovation, also, the gay comment was lame.
