4 weeks into flower, how much bud should there be

whats the average flowering length? cause it started showing its FIRST few pistils around Christmas, I also get the impression its a slow plant, its took over 2 weeks to have more than a couple hairs here and there, but its not showing signs of light stress, lack of nutes etc that might have slowed it down, do some plants just go slower than others?
Yes different strains have different flowering cycles from 8 weeks up 12 weeks +

wow just gave this a quick read and what a laugh(some of the comments i mean).

as a fellow aussie i feel your pain about how hard it is to get decent grow equipment here. as others have said your should really upgrade to a light actually designed for growing. nothing bunnings stocks fits that bill, yeah you can ghetto rig something ( i did for my first grow, 200w of spiral cfls 2oz yield. in same space (a 400w hps yielded 4oz)) but regret it because for the same money i could have bought 2 actual grow lights.

you have 3 options

1 - continue to ghetto rig inefficient lights from bunnings and be disappointed with the amount and quality you yield for the amount of power used.

2 - balls up and order something off ebay, its not illegal to buy or own grow lights and i order all my grow equipment straight to the house. a 400w dimmable hps will run you about $160 for a complete kit with bulb and wing delivered, well worth saving up for.

3 - head to your local hydro shop and talk to the guys there and grab a light from them. honestly to me this is the most risky (cops have been known to follow people back from a few of my local shops) and most expensive (probably $200+ depending on the shop and brand.

personally id stop throwing a couple of dollars here and there trying to rig something that just works and instead save those dollars and instead buy something that will work well and probably better for the same overall cost.

I can see your point but I have a wife and kids. I cant 'balls up' and take risks because when I take risks, I'm risking losing my kid, not just legal problems. Ill NEVER risk my son, id rather ghetto it tbh. Also we don't have a local hydro shop as far as I know, that's about the best option of those 3, and upwards of 200 bucks is WAY too rich for my blood ESPECIALLY online ill never risk over 50 bucks online, because ive ordered tons of shit that never arrived in the past. I only drop 30-40 bucks at a time at Bunnings. As for saving money, any money saved in this house ends up going on food, or baby stuff, bills, me actually BUYING green etc etc etc I'm about ready to just give up and grow outside all year, Australia's warm enough year round

just a quick question - I've noticed if you rub the stems anywhere on the plant, your fingers get a REALLY nice smell, like better than the smell if you rub a sugary leaf and sniff lol so my question is, does this mean anything? Its just ive never had a plant where the stem itself smelt nicer than the buds on it just curious lol

if your arnt going to invest in proper lights outdoors might be your best option.

its where ive had most of my best results, I might just keep the 200w fluoro setup for vegging, get each plant as big as possible and the moment it starts showing signs its not getting enough light, bung her outside to flower :) (cause no matter what time of year it is, am I right in assuming going from an 18/6 hour frame to anywhere from 11-14 hours outside, that would trigger it to flower?)

That said, you'd be surprised how nice these ones under the fluoros are starting to look, ill put photos of the end result up when its ready. The crowns are a good 10 inches long and an inch thick, and if you hold a light right behind it barely any comes through so they must be reasonably dense :)

true summer id just start them outside, but its fall now, if I can veg one for the next two months, ill have 3 months of winter to flower it, our winters usually get pretty cold overnight but most days are still 18c-28c

Heres the final result off of it the first photo is just to show the weight of the buds, as soon as I brought it out and set it down they all just keeled over, there is a half-decent weight to it, just depends how much of that is just water lol 2018-03-22 17.51.34.jpg 2018-03-22 18.29.22.jpg

Dried out to about 2oz not bad from 200w of light :) smells pretty much scentless as a whole but chop it up and it has a bit of a nice smell to it, definitely gets me high, I reckon the one outside smells way better so ill update my post about that one before it gets buried too deep and let everyone know how that goes I reckon itll be a dank oz :)

0.25 grams per watt isnt considered very good at all. with correct lighting you should see a minimum of 0.5 to 1 gram per watt

ive never seen anything suggesting that. Everything ive read says between .25-and.5. per w. So yeah, its not great but its a hell of a lot better than some people were telling me. 21 grams, I believe one guy said. Got more than that just from the crowns. So its 'not bad'.

I literally just stick branches I cut off into the clear bin I keep my unused coco moist in.
Not a single one failed to take....
To make things more interesting, I am doing this under 12/12.
It is just a proof of concept, I have enough clones for the next run already.
