Hey everybody I have 4 plants 1 WW and 3 Ice. Im at the stage where the old fan leaves are yellowing and starting to die. I know I might get mixed responses on this question but..is it okay for me to cut off the yellowing leaves to save the plant some energy and time or will it not be worth it??

To me it seems like an alright idea to cut bc it would help more light penetrate for the last 2 or 3 weeks..and if there dying then there probably not giving much use...all the branch leaves and cola leaves are fine and still doing there thing its mostly just the older fan leaves...thanks for any feedback as i would like to get these ladies trimmed up fairly soon if its a good idea

i'd say if the leave's are really yellow and their dying or have "died" already then ur fine, just gently pull them downwards and they should just pull of easy.if not leave them, they might perk up in colour if u decide to flush or anything...

Thanks for the reply budsmoker..Next time i turn the light on ill have to see which leaves will pull off easy and just take those off...Ive been pulling the dried up dead ones off I just wasnt sure if i should go ahead and remove the yellow ones..any other ideas or opinions appreaciated too

Leave leaves alone! Removal of healthy leaves hacks up a healthy plant. Removing large fan or shade leaves DOES NOT make plants more productive. Plants need all their leaves to produce the maximum amount of chlorophyll and food. Removing leaves slows chlorophyll production, stresses the plant, and stunts it's growth. Remove only dead leaves or leaves that are more then 50 percent damaged.

thanks for the replys everyone...I got what you meant budsmoker..you were saying to pull off the ones that willingly come off...thanks for the response Toke..ill just leave the leaves on unless they come off effortlessly(aka dead leaves or leaves that the plant sealed off and now just come off with the slightest touch)

i just leave them their until they start to crisp up and you can just pull it away with little resistant. Yellow leaves are still useful to the plant.

I have never touched my leaves in the past. Id just let them fall or come close too. After being on this site and reading a long thread debating the issue of trimming I heard a lot from both sides. Seeming a lot of book smart growers said no way, while hands on growers tried here and there and found some good results, I figured Id try on some of mine and leave some alone. I am almost done now, this is the first time I ever trimmed anything off any plant mind you. It seems the majority of the trimmed ones look better and bigger buds. I haven't harvested yet, but I will separate and check weight and smoke difference. We will see. I did no major trimming just yellowed leaves and some leaves in places to let light in. Thanks for your time..

yea i just apply slight pressure on the leaf, if it falls of easy it's off if i tug and it's tight i leave it alone. kind like

saine, im not a big fan of leaving all the plant leaves on there. I think of pruning as giving them hair cuts to make them look pretty. I like total control over my plants and i don't want small nugs. If u look at the photo in my gal you'll see that its all main colas i'll take some more pictures tonight of the bottom of it and you'll see nothing is there. The end result is alot less work trimming small nugs and top colas only smoke. 1 oz bud
