£400 Budget, Bedroom grow.

I have a budget of around £400. I'm planning to use a "grow tent". I'm looking at a size of around
75cm x 75cm x 160cm. I don't want huge plants, just a little hobby.

As for lighting, I'd rather use 1 light for veg and flower, is this possible? Can somebody recommended me a good light? I already have a 250w HPS with reflector, that done my previous plants well.

Can anybody suggest me some good soil fertilizers? Previously I just used a bit of miracle grow.

I have the budget, just not the knowledge!

Thank you, let me know if any additional information is required! :)

if you go on amazon you can get a tent kit, it comes with carbon filter,tent,400/600w hps, and ballast(although you may need to get a new digital ballast so you can use during veg and flower) as for soil get bio bizz all mix, fir nutes biobizz grow and bloom, then you should be on your way and save a bit iof cash, or if you want to go all out then get some t5's for side lighting, all these you can get from amazon and the tent kit you can get next day delivery, any more questions please ask.

Hey buddy, for lights I would go LED & one of the cheapest are Mars 2 from Top Led Grow Light in China - you could get one for about 200USD. Ive never used them but they seem to get good reviews & for the price one can't complain. Good luck

your amazon grow tent seems good except that I wouldnt go the hps route...too many issue with heat & you need a ballast etc. LED is much cleaner & easier. For auto's I recommend you do them outside, if you grow indoors then auto's aren't as helpful...unless your desperate for time because you get smaller plants which means smaller yields. In a 100x100cm space I would grow up to 4 normal plants max. Hope that helps amigo 8)

Thanks. Can one LED light last from veg to harvest? I just dont like the idea of swapping and changing things.

As for auto, I dont actually want a huge yield, just want to grow some lol, can they be done indoors?

Hey Buddy,

Regarding LED yes they can do veg & bud. CFLs are OK but you would need to constantly move them around because to be effective they need to be placed very close to the plants without burning them. HPS is too hot & frankly not the safest unless you know what your doing...LED is a no nonsense straightforward & safe method. For auto's yes you can do them indoors if you want no probs...it just doesn't seem worthwhile that's all because for a little extra time you could grow a proper strain, but its up to you of course, good luck

Thanks a bunch for your help! Can you recomend any decent all-around LED's? Maybe on amazon or something similar? Thanks!

for your budget I would say 'Mars 2' from Top Led Grow Light & 'Blackstar' from LighthouseHydro. Check to see if you can get them from amazon or ebay...happy hunting

LED baby. Beats CFL in my opinion. I use both. Not those little CFL's. I use 300w muthas and the growth is quite staggering in veg. Not enough penetration for flowering imo. Led grows stocky, bushy little.ladies and si far my flowering plants look great. Check my thread for picks. "first grow.ever."

Oh, no such thing as a straight forward, problem free grow. Trust me lol

Thanks for the reply!

Judging from those pictures in your thread, you are vegging with CFL's? Dual spectrum, and flowering with LED?

hey what do you think of this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VIPAR-V300-LED-Grow-Lighting-300W-Indoor-Flower-Veg-Spectrum-Hydro-Lamps-Panel-/171177300932?pt=UK_Baby_Baby_Feeding_Bottle_Warmers_Coolers_LE&hash=item27daf653c4

If you're looking to invest your money wisely cheaply made Chinese LEDs are not the way to go. Most aren't modular. Some will say they are just as good or made with the same parts, bullshit. (proven on the LED Constantinoplee links)

A good digital ballast or an A51 led or something similar from another reputable brand. I would not buy an LED unless it was modular had a good warranty and had next day shipping on parts. If your light goes out during flowering you're fucked you can't wait 2 months on China.

I wanna know how HPS's aren't safe but a knock off LED from China is.... If you're worried about safety buy a ballast locally that meets your countries electronic codes. Safety and Chinese knock off products should not be in the same sentence.

If you grow auto's indoors you are wasting your power. If you're in the UK Power is quiet expensive if I am not mistaken, growing auto flowers you need to run your lights 18/6 or 24/0 to get the best yield. While you can get better bud on a 12/12 cycle with photo's. So less power per day and better bud? You be the judge.

The bigger wattage you go with CFLs the less efficient they are. Run about 20-23 watt cfls. if you want to run CFLs. Don't run 1 powerful one they don't have shit for penetration and you'll still need side lighting, unless you scrog maybe, I still wouldn't do it with a high wattage cfl.

Did you read the reviews on the LED you linked? This isEXACTLY!!!!! why I say don't buy Chinese garbage. They don't give a fuck if you die or your house burns down.

You have a lot of reading to do before you waste £400.

If you have a 250watt hps it's perfect size for your space why would you not use it?

Best fertilizer recommendation anyone can give is build your own organic soil. It's not as hard as it sounds, and the results speak for themselves. The lack of effort to grow is insane, you add water. Maybe a worm casting molasses tea if you feel so inclined. Making the soils the hardest part, growing the plant becomes a cake walk generally speaking, still difficult strains out there that won't like what you made but when you find something that loves the mix you'll know it :)

For strains look at Female Seeds or Vision Seeds, both cheap but produced good results for me, if you fuck up it's no big loss. What I have grown from them has been really easy to grown.

I don't want my plants to get huge, I'm only looking at a 1m x 1m x 2m tent. Can I limit growth, do I just change to 12/12 early?

This is my current lighting setup that worked very well last year. Could this also work during flowering as well as veg?

Yes. You can use that light for flower and veg. You could use CFLs for veg too, I just wouldn't for flower, especially if you have a 250 hps sitting right there.

You can start the seeds 12/12, they will grow like normal until they start hitting sexual maturity then they will flower. I got quite a generous yield running visions Northern Lights like that, I didn't like the Big Bud by them as much but it was still a decent producer.

Look for the 12/12 from seed thread lots of folks do it with great results.
