400 or 600 watt HID for this tent?

I like a 400w or a 315 cmh for that size. A 600 can be too much in a 3x3 with the low height especially. I ran both wattages and liked my 400w hps best about 12" above the flowers.

Also heat can build up in the smaller tents quickly and I needed a 6" fan sucking the sides in just to keep mine cool with an air cooled 600w hps.

I could run the fan much lower speed with the 400.

I have run a 600hps in a gorilla 2x4x7 and I did move a lot of air through it but I would not call it windy because I still needed the little 6" circulation fansto get a little leaf movement. As for the vent fan, I went from a 6" Vortex fan down to a Panasonic whisperline 6" (the smaller, 240 versus the 320 cfm) to reduce noise and watts consumed since it was on all the time. It worked well with my sealed 600 (I think it's a Hydrofarm Radiant 6). The reflector had a good footprint for that tent.

Since I had switchable galaxy (400/600/615) ballast, I would run a 400w mh for veg and then the 600w hps for flower. It does work well.

Still, I would probably go for something more modern as already suggested in the 315cmh or LED. I just switched to 400w of cxb3950 + 39w UVB T5 HO. So far, I am getting more vigorous growth but I am only 3 weeks into flower in my first grow with the new setup. I was able to remove all the complicated ducting when getting rid of the sealed 600w hps reflector.
