All in all. Awesome 1st grow dude. Pretty sick work man. Over a p in a 4x4 on 1st try of that quality seems amazing. Just me tho .

Seems your tent was pretty full tho. Will training help you get that many more colas at the top you think?

I did top them all once. was a very minor topping. when the 5th and 6th nodes were growing out the very top, when they were still together, I pulled the 5th node apart and just plucked off the 6th node. After doing this all of the plants lower nodes shot up until each plant had 10 nodes forming a canopy. didn't really plan for that, didn't train at all. when the lower nodes leveled out with the two tops, they all grew at around the same pace. I want to use a screen next time to keep all the cola's organized and from falling over.

Hey, that grow looks great! I've been looking into getting that same light setup. Did you get it with the ballast too? How did you like it? I have a cool space and use HID to heat, did it throw off a ton of heat?

The Vivosun light is ok, the ballast works, but had an issue with mine. they sent a new one out the next day but had to run to a hydro store that night for lights on. At first thought it was the lamp, so they sent a new lamp too. The ballast is a bit sensitive to voltage drop and has a respark delay can take 10-15 minutes to start after power failure/low voltage.

I think any traditional 1000w lamp will put off significant heat. I was pulling in anywhere from -15F to 30F to cool the sealed hood. When the exhaust temp was below 65F I vented it outside, over that temperature and the exhaust is vented into the insulated tiny house my growtent is inside of. If not using insulated ducting, be wary of condensation and frost. Without out the availability of dry winter air, I would not be able to afford to use the 1000W in a 4'x4' tent, without a HUGE exhaust fan I think.

Killer first grow! Did I get this right you used a 1000 MH or did you switch to HPS for transition? You must have learned a thing or two before this first attempt I mean dang! The rest just takes time.Every grow I train my plants differently and in fact I do something different and you don't know if you like the results until months down the road so ....I suggest growing one or two plants in that 4/4 and trellising the canopy to fill the area completely one plant will do it.If you switched to coco ,rigged up a reservoir, pump and drip manifold fed those babies 5 ,6 times a day you could aim for 1.5 pounds with 1000 watt hps......

I used a MH for veg and HPS for flower. The ballast I was using has 4 settings(600,750,1000,1250) middle to end of flower I had the ballast on the 1250 setting. I've been lurking on this forum and have been planning my first grow for over 10 years, putting a complete grow setup together from the start helps too.

I'll probably do soil for a few grows, it's so stupid easy it's one variable I didn't have to worry about. Even in full flower, pulling 1/2 gallon a day only had to water every 2-3 days.
