Its unlikely. Most fires are a result of arcing from not plugging the male into the female properly. If you put the bulb on a flammable surface the change of fire increases by 1000 fold.

Not that I'm trying to sway you in that direction..

Go with a cheaper tent and get a HLG600.
I don't see the attraction to spending lots on a tent.
The hlg600 is super heavy I would only hang it in my gorilla tent I have a hydrohut also had to use my other quantum boards with smaller heatsinks the top bars still flex a little more than I like. It's really best to just build a room I like using 2x3 boards you can make a 8x8 with sheetrock for like $300 or less I unfortunately had to use tents for my current space

I get your weight concerns but it cant be heavier than my cob light that covers the other half of my 8x4. Nor much more heavy than two 260w kits since its only a bit more heat sink. My tents are average priced, always used average priced tents and I haven't had a zip fail or a tent collapse in the 6-7 years I have used them.
The days of cheap plastic tents that collapse and gas off are long behind us, or at least they are in Europe.

Idk man I have 9 boards on 3 of those thin I think slate 2 heatsinks with 3 hlg 240 drivers all of that on a L channel frame is alot lighter than my hlg 600

Do you already have the tent?

If not and you're not stuck on a 4x4 another option could be 5x2.5 tent....with a HLG320 watt xl??

Not sure on other brands with the out the norm sizes but i have a Growlab GL80L,which i think is 4.11x2.7x6.7.

Like 3 less square footage vs a 4x4 but quite a bit of savings on the lighting.I think that light is like $450ish??

Corey I think you and I are the only people who agree on cheap tents on this site! Everybody says they rip and break and you need a gorilla tent and blahblahblah. I've had three no name brand tents that were literally the cheapest ones available on Amazon... Never had a single issue.

That budget needs some work. Knowing what I know today...If i were brand new to growing and had $1700 to start a 4x4 tent I would buy DIY COBs from @RainDan and already mixed soil/nutrient kit from Buildasoil.

I have had 5 cheap tents 1 was garbage zipper broke within a week and I had to build a wood frame inside it to hold the weight. What size is yours? The cheap ones that are smaller than 4x4 are great in my experience the 4x4 and 4x8 are really weak

I have to admit I wouldn't trust those flimsy ones you get with kits. I had a lot of climbing ones spare so I used those and I always hang everything with strong chain.

I've had 6 tents. 2x2m and 8x4ft been the biggest and all were strong, but they were 18 or 19mm poles with steel corners ect, not the 12 or 15mm poles I have seen on some with plastic corners.
Its probably a bit like buying a mars hydro light. 3 guys might be lucky and they don't burn out but the 4th guy has a failure. Its a quality control thing I guess.
I would be confident doing pull-ups on my tents but not confident enough to do hanging sit ups.. :D

Yeah I was thinking they looked wimpy I went with the little twist lock caribeaners I would do pullups on my gorilla tent the rest of the plastic corner tents I wouldn't put half my weight on haha. Where do you climb? I used to Boulder alot but I'm taking a break right now

Have you tried vivosun tents? I cant justify the price of gorillas, though they're really thick and nice. The vivosun tents have actually a BETTER zipper than the gorilla ones IMO. They also use much thicker fabric than other cheap tents in the price range (plenty thick too, i think gorilla is overkill). I actually had a shard of broken glass under a vivosun tent I had that i wasnt aware of, and I would slide my tent around over the shard and it never ripped the fabric even a little bit!

After I tried them out, I never even thought about buying an apollo or any other cheap tent brand again. Those are more like actual coleman camping tents than a proper grow tent LOL

So was a decision made? If the budget was 2500 for a 5x5x8 what's the best route? Someone mentioned that the next light mega used cheap diodes but I've been looking into this nearly exact thing so I contacted them and in the reply they stated ''NextLight fixtures use the Samsung LM561B mid power diode. The Mega specifically uses over 2,500 single watt diodes, run at less than a quarter of a watt. Running the diodes at such low power minimizes heat output, and helps with efficiency, and life rating. The Mega is 3x3 itself, so in a 5x5 tent the Mega will perform great''. Having said that I really don't know what the absolute best led would be for a 5x5 area? I'm also considering contacting HLG directly and ask them what the cost would be to have them build their best custom light for a 5x5 grow tent. Anyone have a thought on this and the original post? Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread.

I was looking at a spydrx that growmau5 had commented about in a post somewhere. I've watched as many videos as I could find of his. The guy knows his business. Anyway I haven't been able to find results such as a grow journal or a review stating the quality and quantity. Would you have experience with this fixture?

That's great news. May I ask would it work as well in a 5x5 or would I need to add an extra fixture? Would you be able to give me an idea of what sort of yield I could expect? I grow in soil with a combination of LST and topping. Nothing fancy. Thanks for your advice

Mine fits snug I'm my 4x4. You can position the individual bars not only in proximity but direction as well.
