I would go with the 600 watters because they're more efficient and they generate less heat, so you can place them closer. I highly recommend light movers. I was able to produce a lot more bud once I bought one. Also, if you go with a horizontal grow it will keep all your plants level and you can, of course, put them closer. However, it's also more work so if you're kind of lazy then go with the 1000 watters. I don't have any experience with vertical grows but from what I've seen and heard you can get better yields that way.

What brand of bulbs are you planning on going with? That's the one thing I haven't tested. I always go with Sunmaster myself.

It might be best to go with the Hortilux dual arc 1000 watters. I assume you already know about them but if you don't, they contain the hps and metal halide in one.

Speaking of bulbs, what reflectors are you going with? These P.L. Lighting Systems reflectors are starting to gain popularity

The Adjust-A-Wing are also supposed to be great. I read that if you just use the cooltubes with the included reflectors that they're really inefficient and that they generate a heat spot. I read all that in the Jorge Cervantes Grow Bible.

Im sorry I never got your PM, Im getting tired of people coming on here telling me how bad my attitude is. I never asked for a bunch of people to show up and start telling me how I should write my posts, I never said Anything negative to Florida Girl.
Perhaps if people are saying it repeatedly then you should take a step back and consider the possibility that you are coming off as a DICK to the people who read your threads

I was a little upset after getting constant replies from squish that are totally OFF TOPIC.

WTF??? You have a whole 127 posts (as of my reply) and you are complaining about the responses to your thread???? Well FUCK YOU ..... at least people took the time to respond jackass!

I dont know what your problem is. People say I have attitude? I never said anything negative to any of you other than the fact that I dont need useless off topic comments that cause "drama"

If you got an issue STOP POSTING and claiming that I should be greatful for your useless response?

I dont get it, how am I being an ass? You come on my thread flaming about how I should watch my attitude, if you have a problem DONT POST, just move on.

*Once Again* Thank you to anyone who has posted anything useful. And no offense to anyone. If you take it the wrong way or have a problem move on, I didnt highjack your post and start saying your an ass did I?

My 147 posts, whatever the fuck that matters. I make new accounts every couple months, I dont think thats a problem, Im sorry if I dont waste my life posting crap trying to get more posts then everyone else. I doubt even 10 of those posts were useful.

Thanks bigbong, thats what I was thinking going flat, its reliable, Im thinking 60" cooltubes, 4 1000w vs 6 600w

I've never seen a vertical soil garden before. You would have to make pretty strong shelves to support the weight of all the dirt. I guess if you used small pots and an Indica strain you could pull it off.

I run air cooled 1000W lights. One 440 CFM fan for two lights. I run my lights 12-18" from the top buds with no burning.

I also run a perpetual harvest so I always have plants at different stages of growth. The larger lights have better penetration down to the smaller plants.

Let's face it the more light the better. I don't care about power costs I just want the super dense buds you get from max light.

If you want to run strains with more Sativa in them you need a ton of light to keep them from running. At some point you may want to grow a strain like Haze and you will be glad you went with the 1k lights.

That's a lot of soil to have to get rid of. Do you have a good place to dump it?

Don't forget your CO2 setup! It's just as important as the light and temps.

After 14 years of growing in soil I would have to say that Soma has the best method. You have to try it!!! Tasty as fuck!
"Growing with Guano" by Soma

I use stainless steel window screen instead of the cloth. If you use square pots you can put the pvc pipes in the corners.

Good luck bro!

apparently the flat grows are the best yielders, but how many plants are you planning on doing? you could devide it to 2 levels with a little walk down bit and grow flat but im still not convinced you would get a better yield than a normal grow based on the amount of room it would take, you could possibly fit 4 upright plants in same size area as a flat one.
im not sure with the lights, i was told you could messure the price of running per hour by the wattage and ur electric KWH (kilo watts per hour) price, for example if you have a 600w it uses 0.6Kwh so if it costs you 10p per kwh, that light would cost 6p per hour to use.
if i was you id goto a grow shop or look on net and find out what lumens each light broadcasts at what wattage then compare each to find the best lumens per £ or $ based on the method above.
also if ur wanting to keep running costs down then maybe look into envirolite's for vegging??

im on my first grow at mo so my opinion is based on others literature ive read, if anything ive wrote is wrong please feel free to controdict me but message me to let me know please, i hate incorrect info lol

STINK BUD good advise with the somaseeds i like his style and will think bout it for my next grow.

In the future you should learn from this post. From a nuetral stand point, It does kind of come off as a chest thumping, look what I can do. I consider myself a newbie grower. I know that there are people in here who definitely know what they are doing. So when I ask questions, I ask them in a respectful manner like a student approaching a teacher.

It is obvious that some of the responses are rubbing you the wrong way. So learn from it, and move on. By the way, good luck with your grow. Sounds like you want to do it big. All I can say is BE CAREFUL!

BTW I am a 46 year old man and will not even respond to hateful negative comments. Live long and be Strong!!:peace:

if you run 2 volksgardens you will have lots of uncluttered room to move around them and work on your plants. It also is at a good height for correct posture. if its not a tedious chore with back breaking work looking after your garden then you may be more inclined to stick to the best practices.

you cant beat the plant to light relationship and the thing sets up in 5 minutes, to see a guy set it up search for it on youtube. and if you need to move it the cylinder with all the plants in it can go through a doorway. one person can carry it but it's awkward, but still you can move your whole operation into a van in a minute literally.

there are those that don't think these factors are worth it, i believe that these factors are critical for sustained success with happiness/joy. but the yields can stand on their own for a reason to consider this option, along with the stealth factor because of the low power draws needed to make the activity and time spent worth while

You will also have spent 4 grand and have 0 of the things actually required to grow.

you get 10 points off the price for buying two so you have $1,400 with which to get lighting and the rest of the details so you are going to be right close to the 5k mark. a res doesnt have to cost much and what else do you need but some air exchange

So, after spending 3600 bucks, you still need to buy lights, nutes, fans, meters, genetics, air ducting, all the growing mediums for the machines, a RO machine, and other misc construction things needed to build the room in which the volksgardens are hidden. So after you buy those things you still have to buy everything you need to grow, remind me again the point of spending the 3600?

hmmm well there are so many reasons, but...... I think I will have to go with the 3 to 5+ lb yield from a 600 watt lamp in 7 weeks in 10 sq ft of space. good question ;)

I dont care if your a dick or not. You asked about yield/watt.
Here it is 10x10 you said. well I would use a table built out of 2 sheets of plywood.
Use 5 1/4 square pots. cover the table with pots. Now here is the cool part. I would use three Lightrail 3.5 light movers with add a lamp kits for a total of 6-600watt HPS.
Space them about 30" apart oncenter.
Run a SOG W/Spike buds. Clone.Flower as soon as the root. table with 300 12" buds.
Hope it works for ya.

so what should you expect to yield from that set up?
