5'x7'x7' area 2 600w HPS or 1 1000w?

Just completed my 1st indoor grow using T5, T8, and CFL. Yield was about an oz per plant off 4 plants. This time I want to double the plant count and hopefully significantly increase my yield per plant by adding either 2 600w HPS or 1 1000w HPS for main coverage, and suppliment side lighting with the T5, T8, and CFL lights I already have. The room is 7x7x7, but I want to use 5x7 of that for flower. My question is would 1 1000w hps light be better than 2 600w hps lights? I have 8 sprouts growing outside in pots at the moment. Looking to upgrade my lights and rearrange the room before I bring them in. Going to veg outdoors 100% until end of August. Thanks in advance for your input and advice!

I would go with 2 600w for better coverage.

2 x 1000 watts dimmed down to 75% would be what I would do.

While that would be optimal, for now my budget just isn't there for 2 1000w lights. Otherwise with the space I have 2 1000w would be a no brainer!

Then buy 1 x 1000 watt dimmable and only use a 5 x 5 area for now. Add an extra 1000 watt when you can afford to. Then use 2 x 1000 dimmed down in that 5 x 7.

Will that be sufficient to cover 8 plants? Planned on topping and lst with about 6-8 wks veg time using natural sun and T5HO with 4100k and 7500k tubes as the days begin to get shorter in a few weeks to keep them from flowering to early

i'd suggest 2x 600 for better light spread and also (dependent on bulbs) 600w can have more lumens per watt

Yeah, you can fit 8 plants in a 5 x 5. I run 4 or 5 in a 4 x 4. Do 3 rows of plants in your 5 x 5 area. A row of 3, a row of 2 in the middle and another row of 3.

A 600 only covers a 4 x 4. The outsides would be very weak

Sweet! Well, I am definitely going the 2 1000w route then. Thanks man! Greatly appreciate it. How many cfm will I need to draw heat from 2 6" cooled hoods?

Using 1 or 2, the outside of a 5x5 or 5x7 will still be weak. You can only stretch a 600 watt footprint so far.

Or maybe 1x1000 on a lightmover???
