Should be able to purchase a 135 watt quantum board kit for that price. Put it together, hang, and go.
If he wants to go the DIY route I know there there are other options ... like hanging 2 luminus 3500K cxm cobs at either end of the existing blurple with a 1050ma driver ... but I was under the impression that he wanted something ready out of the box.

I don't mind a kit if it's straight forward. I just don't want to start a whole new expensive hobby. Is there an advantage to the quantum kit over an out of box solution?

I believe that the only tool needed is a screw driver. One advantage these boards offer is more useable light per dollar spent vs. an out of the box type of light fixture. There are others.

My only concern with a Quantum board on one side and the Vipar on the other would be the imbalance in light spectrum. Plants on different sides of the tent would be in different photon environments.
If it was possible to get 2 3500K boards, that would be ideal
And in the interest of full DIY disclosure, here's my flower light ... a blend of 3000K, 3500K and 4000K cobs

I'm considering a Viparspectra 300 to hang next to the current 600.
If you can swing it go for another 600 to keep the light balanced across the canopy. You may have to play with the height a bit to adjust for the increased intensity and you'll have more heat to deal with. Take a look at the PAR maps for the 600, 450, and 300 and see what you think works best for you. Even in a 2x2 mapping the 300 is pretty weak at the edges

It's all about growing good smoke. Unfortunately the Vipar you have doesn't offer dimming so you'll be running about 550 actual watts in your 4x2. It will create some heat issues but you can probably deal with that with ventilation. Just keep the light at least 18" and you shouldn't cook anything

You're right and good call on the heat.
I added another 6" fan so now I have 2.. I plan to keep 1 running 24 hours with the other coming on with the light.. and of course keeping the other closet door cracked for room AC ventilation (it's a long closet, 2 doors for two people but is connected with the same clothes hanging rod and shelf).

18" even during flowering?

I am replacing the mylar with white panda film because I don't like how the reflective material gets spotty/dirty.

For the meantime I'm just going to have this single light and start a fresh grow of Sensi seeds feminized Northern Lights in 2ea. 3 gallon fabric pots as soon as this last AutoBlueberry is finished.

I will be using Happy Frog soil this time around and amending it with Great White myco then adding Cal-Mag as needed during veg. Big Bloom for flowering.

I really enjoyed the AutoBlueberry smoke but it's time to go photoperiod.
I may or may not LST.

Love your grow! I am running a similar setup, cabinet, 44inches tall, 40inches wide and 16inches deep. Started off with 2 300 watt Galaxy and Mars LEDS but the heat was too much. Cut a hole in the top of the cabinet, installed a cool tube with a 600 watt HPS dialed her down to 75% and the heat is no existent!

I am running 2 - 2 gallon plants that each are about 3 feet tall...little bonsai trees almost, getting about 2-3 oz per plant per run...anyways gonna sub to your grow and follow it! Good luck!

Hey guys, nothing too crazy going on but here's my 2 Sensi Seeds Northern Lights which sprouted July 15th. They're looking nice and I've been giving them Great White myco and Cal-Mag.
