650w of cobs in a 4x4 tent - a grow log

Welcome, I'm the ganjafather and this is my journal/log for my upcoming led grow. I'm replacing a 600w hps setup in a 4x4 tent.

I'm also looking for ideas/suggestions/advice for increasing my yield. I'll be flipping around 2 weeks from this post and I'll keep this updated the whole time.

Strains are both from tga subcool, Jack skellington (jack the ripper x g13) and royal phoenix (urkle x chernobyl) x Querkle. I grew these from seed last grow and these are 1st Gen clones of those plants.

They are in 7 gallon fabric pots, with coco + perlite (60/40). I'm using only dyna gro nutes with foliage pro through the full veg and flower cycle. I will also use some pro tekt and maybe a little mag pro. This will probably be my last go with dyna gro because I want to switch to canna coco, but I want to use up the rest of what I've got first.

My last grow (finished drying and jarred yesterday), I was very unimpressed with the yield, so I've made some major changes for this one. This is my 4th grow, im no expert, but I think I have a good plan for success this time.

The bud quality on the other hand was great. Frosted nugs I've grown yet, and a super pungent lemon/pine smell from both strains.

Here's a couple pics of my finished bud from the last grow:

What I've changed this grow:
- upgraded the 600w hid setup to a 650w cob led setup. There will be 12 cobs total, 36v citi 1212, Gen 5, mix of 2700k and 3000k 80 and 90 cri chips. Running on 3 hlg185h-c1400b drivers. Each rail is about 217w from the wall, for about 650w total.
Here's a pic of the cobs:

- added a portable a/c unit to the room. I had a bad heat issue. I've got insanely hit summers here and temps in the tent last flower got into the 90s a few times. With the switch in lights and added ac, I'm now maintaining 75-80f with lights on.
- topping and LST. I think it's called manifolding. I did none of this last grow, but I've been very aggressive with it this grow. All 4 plant have been topped 3 times (5 days out from last topping), all have multiple main shoots and all will be lolli popped in a few days. Here's a pic of the new girls:

I think these 3 things are going to make a very dramatic improvement on yield this go around. I'll be sure to update this thread as much as I can.

Any suggestions or advice is appreciated! Thanks for dropping in!

Since you're new to cobs you will want to play around with distance from canopy. Since you have 12 cobs you should be able to run them close to 12" above the plants during flower. I learned from a few bleaching incidents how close cobs can get and basically if you move your hand up towards the light, when your hand starts to look bleached from the intensity, that's too close. I've seen a lot of pics where people have their lights 2-3 feet above the plants and they're really not making the most of them that way. I used to run a 23 cob array, 30 watts each. They would start to bleach at about 4" but with some training to the side I was able to grow many of the colas up past the cobs. It probably wasn't great for them but it was great for the rest of the plant/s.

I had another lamp that was more efficient and did better GPW but they both produced around 3.5 grams per par watt.

You tried bodhi genetics? Should be able to find a keeper in each pack, i'd suggest goji og or sunshine daydream, good luck.
Haha that's funny I am actually planning on getting some bodhi. Still trying to figure out what I want my free pack to be..

Thanks for the info
