A $3.29 lowe's bucket almost outted my (legal) apartment grow

So jonny does not have the luxury of having his own house yet and has rented in apartments for a number of years which introduces a unique set of problems for a medical grower such as myself.

I harvested my 1 girl last night in my grow room with the door closed and 2 400CFM fans mated to matching carbon filters cleaning the air in a 12x12 room. In the front room I setup a mist free humidifier with concentrated ona liquid in the hopper cranking at full blast. My apartment wreaked of nothing but clean linen that the most sterile room in the most sterile hospital would have difficulty matching. It was a perfect setting for a perfect and safe harvest.

Just as I finished the trimming and hung up my net inside the grow tent feeling my anxiety finally wash away, I thought to myself - this couldn't have gone any smoother. The next day I've got my dehumidifier running to keep the RH at or near 60% with a rubber hose securely attached to the dehumidifier secured with gorilla tape draining into a 5 gallon lowes bucket. This is the same 5 gallon lowes bucket that I used throughout the entire grow (4-5 months) to bubble my tap water in for use in the grow. I was nervous about somehow developing a leak that could cause damage to the apartment ceiling beneath me, so I doubled up the bucket inside of another 5 gallon lowes bucket.

So today I'm in and out of the room periodically monitoring the RH. I come back into the room to find water on the fucking concrete floor (peeled up the carpet due to dog piss) ever so gently siphoning its way into a little crack in the concrete. My heart about fell through my asshole and I flew to the bathroom to find bath towels and soaked up the mess as I tried to determine how the fuck this possibly could have happened.

I then examine the bottom of the bucket. There is a 6" hairline crack right in the middle of the base. I thought to myself, If I had not been home this water would have leaked downstairs and my unit would have been accessed to investigate the source of the leak and I would be looking for a new home.

Long story short, a lowes bucket that cost me less than $4 almost thunder fucked me. The real icing on the cake here is that I was literally using this bucket the entire grow, but due to my paranoia, I doubled up the bucket in the beginning because I feared this very scenario. How did it happen? I'm clueless man...how does a stationary bucket just fucking crack? I don't know, but jonny just learned a valuable lesson in water management. ALWAYS DOUBLE UP YOUR WATER STORAGE CONTAINER! Shit, I'm actually a little wore out just having to recount the details of this fucking story. I hope my story helps another apartment grower operate a little more safely.

I always tend to stay away and encourage others to as well from those damned buckets. Buy black buckets from HomeDepots online store. They're legit.

I do believe the universe is just out to fuck me this grow....so I've got my dehumidifier running as I've done many times before draining into a 5 gallon bucket with a 1" drain hose. I drill a hole in the bucket just below the top that the hose runs through so there's no way it can pop out or anything like that. As I pass by my grow room on the way to the fridge, I see that my piece of shit cat decided to tip over the bucket so that she could play in the water. F-MY-LIFE. I failed to factor in the piece-of-shit-cat variable in my grow room safety outline to my own detriment. Fortunately, I happen to love my fucking cat, so she's off the hook....I however, have some changes to implement. An urban grower's problems never end. On the up side of things, I have harvested and the smoke is solidly potent. I however am done with hydro. I gave the hempy buckets a try 2 grows in a row and I feel that I personally prefer the results of my soil grown buds. For me, hydro is just more rapid growth with larger buds, but they lack the complexity in aroma, flavor, and potency of soil grown buds. I may do a side by side comparison in the future when I have more space just for fun.

Get one of those plastic tubs you mix mortar in. Ive had one for 15 years and beat the hell out of it. Put your bucket in that.

Get some left over cheap fiberglass backed flooring. build a wood tray and cover with flooring and calk the seams for a tray that you can put under the whole grow.

I had a similar exp with an orange one. I bought the cheaper than dirt five gallon water proof lid assembly and buried some treasure out back. when I retrieved my bucket it had been split down the side and filled with water, then not, then again.I'll say it took a smith

I'll say it took a smith to put things back in working order, I was so bummed.
I also got one of the larger types of underground stow, a black cylinder with a double top. Its was buried for years, I checked on it, its fine and dry for the duration. got that from ctd too, wont bury without it again.
sorry for your bucket problems. stupid buckets!

Dont flip your buckets over for a quick seat! I used to do that now and than and I cracked the bottom of my bucket, Im 6' tall and 175 lbs so it dont take to much to crack them, especialy if they have been around the light heat, and all of the other things that help age them.

No Sitting on upside down buckets lol!

Peace

I hate Lowes buckets, super cheap plastic that likes to crack. Hd buckets are much better.
My local HD doesn't have bpa free, so I actually use homebrew stores for tea buckets. They have those nifty 6 gallon buckets that help keep that 5 gallons of tea actually in the bucket and not on my feets!
