A different method of light distribution, spin the plants

Here is the method that was developed over the last two years that will allow you to grow more per dollar invested. The system works like this, you have your normal overhead light, I use a 600W HPS with a Lumitek 240V ballast. Now hanging directly under the overhead light is another 600W HPS that is adjustable up and down with a Yoyo. Now you put from 1,2,3 or 4 spinners around the center hanging light, then I use #10 cloth pots but that is a individual choice.

The overhead lights that I selected is the PL lights, as they do not have a good cooling system I came up with one that works good. They are the PL lights that have about a 3 to 4 foot focal point and a wide distribution pattern. If I had to do it over again I would have put in a wide reflector that is adjustable up and down. Now I need to set the shorter girls on pedestals to get them to the best light.

Now when you fire up the spinners they come on when the lights go on and keep spinning until the lights go off. Some of the best benefit that results from this is all of the bud branches are much stronger that without moving, I believe that this is due to the branch always stretching for the light. They get a lot of exercise I guess because of this; it really helps to support those big buds. Now I do not use any glass between the bulb and the plant, this helps get better distribution of light throughout the plant. You need not worry about burning the leaves because as long as they do not touch the bulb or they are moving they will not burn. So my girls get right next to the hot bulb, no problem. Now if you use any spray I just turn the center light off, wait till it cools and spray away.

It might take a while for this concept to sink in but the pictures do not lie, it not only works for producing quite a bit more meds but also makes taking care of your girls easier. This is because of them spinning, I just pull up a chair and start trimming and pruning without needing much effort. Even works very well for those who have to be in a wheelchair, they can now do what they could not do otherwise.

Since I have started using this system I also switched to an all-organic and much less expensive way to feed the plants. I started using the Alaskan Fish Fertilizers, both veg and bloom so far all of the meds that are produced have that “taste”. Just like and sometimes even better than outdoor grown. That really surprised me what that just happened at a local gathering I attended. I had some of the Medijuanna that was indoor and it went up against the same strain only outdoors grown. Even the grower said that it was much better than his both in taste and potency.

That is just about the basic concept of what I call growing in 3D, not just length and width you are adding much to the sides of the plants as well. I have many pictures of the grow shed I constructed two years ago to test this concept and will post them as requested.

Here is a picture of the new grow shed under construction. The top light is in a PL fixture that is supposed to focus the light at about 3-4 feet from the light and spread it with the lens. It works for me but I needed to construct a plate to mount it on with 1 ¼ inch air gap around it. This is where I exhaust the air for cooling the room in the summer. In the center is where the sidelight is hung from; I just used a couple of coat hangers to mount it to and drilled some small holes in the reflector. Then added the Yoyo for adjusting it up and down.
