a good led to replace 1000w hid setup

I'm in the same position as you are. I would love to find an led system to replace my hps bulbs. The problem I have is that it seems that unless you build it yourself (I'm not savvy enough to do that), or it costs a fortune, and it doesn't really save that much electricity as far as I can see. Even the DIY aren't cheap. I run viperspectra on one of my veg tables and I've seen people flower with them, but I'm sticking with my hps until I can get a better deal. I use the Genesis bulbs that I buy off Ebay. They seem to work well and $55.00 every 6 months isn't bad IMO. I would check out the LED thread for more info. If I had a smaller grow I might go for the LED.

Four(Samsung) QB boards for a 4x4.. See LED forum and the thread on QB Boards. It has about 2000+ posts. Stephen and Robin run Northern grow Lights in Ohio and they provide great support.

Each board has about 304 white diodes.

You can get the 2 board kit for $268.00. they are easy to put together and great support. They run at 74 deg F and use about half the electricity as HPS. Really 40% less but if you factor in reduced cooling costs it is 50%. If you have a small area then the $268 two board kit may be enough. They are very bright.

Vipars and the other standard LED stuff usually is not as good as HPS in flowering.

+1 for Timber if you don't want to deal with DIY part. I have 300W Citizen framework from them next to my Rapidled bars. It gets bit expensive if you do not want to build your own, but it's sooo worth it.

I appreciate all the replies. As much as I want to try to build an led , I don't really have the time. I have been looking at ready to rock out of the box systems. I am showing interest in mars hydro and platinum led. Platinum led claims full spectrum but with 1000 dollar price tag, mars hydro offers an equivalent light at few hundred dollars. I have heard good things about mars hydro led, and the platinum reviews say that the platinum light really isn't full spectrum. anybody use either of these two systems, and if so what are the pros and cons for you

If you post the specific models of Mars and Platnium you are considering, we can provide you with more specific information about whether they will achieve your goals.

I just put up 2 solar Storm 800s on Craigslist about a hr ago if anyone is in the California bay area. Will sell them for 750 each. Pretty expensive but they still go for $1500 new. Pretty much buy 1 get 1 free.

What lights did you replace them with?

Screenshot_2017-05-13-08-09-17.png I just built two of these for a 4x4. dude Rapid does everything for you it's not complicated at all I'm so glad I went with diy. I did the Vero kits and literally only took me like 2 hrs per kits to assemble you can solder urself or pay a couple extra bucks for all plug and play. The Vero kit is doing 265 watts with the the 240/1400 driver option.

some peoples kids have nothing better to do than haunt threads talking trash they already talked long ago.
if you have a big set up where you're going to be producing pounds per month, you may want to go with the huge dinosaur electricity sucking hot as the fucking sun hid lights. anyone else would be well served looking into cobs, and quantum boards. everyone in this thread

seems to be ecstatically happy with their results, including myself. the only voice of dissent is....the same one it always is...

I would bet you could build a light. I've seen what you know, and based on that, I'm confident you could do DIY led light. If you want to. There is probly some folks on here that may have spare rigs that would be happy to help out a rare lady grower in here. Cheers, good luck!

Thanks for the compliment! I will probably attempt one eventually.
