A good pk slam?

If you're set on slamming your plants with P/K as many seem to be just get some monopotassium phosphate and call it a day. It's 10 times cheaper than all the bottled crap out there with fancy labels and cool names.

And like @speedwell68 stated look at the labels. You'll find most all contain the same stuff.

Anything with a name like PK Slam is just marketing targeted at those with minimal knowledge of basic plant nutrition.

Depends on your nutrients. I personally started using KoolBloom since i use GH trio, and already in the 1st week i can tell the flower heads are bulking up a lil quicker than I'm used to seeing.

I tried FF Beastie Bloomz & Cha Ching on another FoxFarm grow i did, but I think I overdid it & used each too soon. Mad foxtailing and super dark green foliage into late flower. BB and Cha Ching have some crazy N P K numbers, probably won't use again.

I don't understand why P and K are together. The plant pulls P during early flower and then almost stops using when the K picks up. It would make more sense to boost the phosphorus during the first few weeks, and just let the plant take its potassium from the base nutrients.
Or just make it simple and use something that already has plenty of both P&K. Jacks 5-12-26, MaxiBloom 5-15-14, etc...

The internet has led some to believe that you want to cut out nitrogen and slam with P/K in flower. That's just the way it is. There is lots of bad plant nutrition beliefs in the cannabis growing world.

I've heard it from a lot of horticulturists including Jack's representatives. That's why their boost formula is stand alone and only supposed to be used for the first few weeks. There's nothing wrong with only using the base nutrients, but I don't think it's bro science.

I tried PK boosters when I first started growing indoors and I also tried "pushing" my nutes to as high as the plant can take, and it's just not a good idea. I didn't start growing great bud until I went the opposite direction and just feed the minimal amount of a complete nutrient to just keep the plant looking healthy with no burning. My yields actually went up and the quality went way way up. If I were the OP i'd just go with Jack's or Megacrop and adjust the 2 part ratios for slightly higher P/K. You don't need high PPMs either. I will leave you with this excellent Unlce Ben post on the matter: https://www.rollitup.org/t/the-never-ending-abuse-of-phosphorous-bloom-foods-to-enhance-flowering.158144/

My next goal is to start mixing my own salts and get out of the premix game for good. I feel like most lines are going for hype, overload or ease of use. I want something that perfectly tracks with what the plant is using throughout the grow. Soon I'll be back to running clones, so I'll know my plants well and make adjustments when necessary.

I think the problem with PK boosters is that people are using it on top of their base nutrients, which already have plenty of each.
That's basically what I meant. Many hear about all these P/K boosters and think that adding more on top of whatever bloom nutrients they're using is going to give make the buds much bigger. It's really hard for a new grower to ignore all the 30-40% increase in yields from some of the product claims out there. Everyone wants bigger yields of better buds. Marketing works.

I guess I'm lucky having grown so many different kinds of plants successfully over the decades with great results including cannabis that I never paid much attention to all the cannabis specific nutrient hype. It didn't make sense to me years ago and it doesn't today.

Too bad Uncle Ben doesn't post here anymore. He was a wealth of knowledge. From that thread you linked to this is what people should take from that first post.

"It's an abundant amount of healthy leaves going into 12/12 and maintaining their health that produces a lot of bud, not high P ferts."

I just want to day thank all if you for responding, I'm a newer grower and I'm hanging my s come run. I was asking because the next run will be ready in a two weeks and was thinking of adding a booster. On my first grow one of my buddies gave me some of his during weeks 4-6 I don't recall the name. The only difference I'm seeing so far is that this run looks great but seems less dense than the first one. I will definitely read a little more and smoke a couple while I decide I'm going to add some.
