A little help in the Pac NW

Long time smoker. First grow. I've got my babies set up under on a 24 hr light cycle right now because I heard it gave filthy gains. So far I'm loving it (they sprouted a week ago and are about 6" tall with the second set of true leaves half way in). I'm a little concerned about one plant, two days ago it was leaning waaay to the left. It's about 6 inches tall but was only about an inch off the ground because of the lean. it perked up yesterday and started to straiten out. Today it's leaning over to the right, alot more upright, but it's main stalk is resting on the edge of the pot and the shoot is growing strait up. Is this something I should worry about? I don't want to have the stalk get too weak from growing funny, but I don't want to tie it up and shock the plant if I don't have to. Any suggestions?

what kind of light? why 24? I believe it is no better than 18/6.

IF you have an HPS or floro during veg it could cause them to grow long and spindly. also do you have a fan on them? wind will make them have stronger stems.

What kind and wattage light are you using. I believe long weak stems are caused by underlighting. I believe you need at least 100 watts to promote growth with flourescents per plant, If you have sufficient lighting, then it must be a nutrient problem, veg growth needs a 6-3-3 or similar nitrogen to phosphate-potash ratio, heavy on the nitrogen. Don't over feed them as you will burn them. If you started with a good potting mix, you should have sufficient ferts through the first three weeks, then introduce the ferts very lightly to see how they take to it before pouring it on> If you can put in a little stake and tie it up with a piece of masking tape, sticky side out.

Lanky stems occur when the light source is too far away and the plant must stretch towards the light so make sure if your useing an HPS you dont have it too far away but you cant have it too close either or risk burning the plant. HPS's also generate quite a bit of heat so take into account some method of diverting the heat from your plants.

this is what i used to do if a plant started stretching, take a regular plastic straw, cut it to length of stem, just below first set of leaves, just slightly longer. slit the straw all the way from top to bottom.fold it back so it`s open, then place around the stem, slightly pushing down into the medium to hold it. it wont hurt your plant and will expand with the stem, it worked for me many times when my plants started to stretch

But the reason for the stems being that way is what you have to figure out. Too far away from the light? Need some kind of very gentle breeze on your plant to help strengthen the stems. Also what are you using for fertilizer?

That straw trick worked like no other! I love it!!!! Back up and running and growing like weed(s)! I'm using using a generic 150 watt grow lamp I got at the store and a Mystery lamp leftover from the old tennants. Combined to be about 400w. I've got my closet lined with foil to increase reflection. The window in my room blows clean air in all day. I have a two foot fan set up at the edge of the closet. the fan generates enough force by sucking the air out of the closet to vent heat and provide a breeze throughout the entire area. Any other thoughts?

I haven't started the nutes yet cuz my plants have only been in for about a week and a half. I've got new seeds that should be ready to plant by the time I get home. I'm picking up a 400w MH w/ballast and some Fox Farms Big Grow and Big Bud tonight.

It's the place to be! I was in Jamaica a couple years ago and this guy was trying to sell me some bud, but when I told him I was from Seattle, his eyes got all big and he was like "here mon, you might be a little more used to something like this. Keep you Irie, mon".

So I say fuck it! Let people talk shit about the rain up here while they shovel the snow out there driveways and fry in the summer. I'll stay here with the best dro, beer, wine, coffee, summers in the world.

A little advice though to anyone who's thinking about moving to seattle: It sucks, you don't want to move here. It rains all summer, the weed's always shitty, the penalty for smoking weed is worse than that for selling smack and there's not a single damn place to get a cup of coffee in this city...

about the tinfoil/white paint. I think tinfoil reflects more light because I have my plants in a container that I originally had lined with tinfoil and no light could be seen, but then I gave in and painted the interior white and now the whole thing glows with escaping light. But that's probably because I only used 2-3 coats.

Anytime! You'd really like the rant about there being no good looking women on the eastside around here...

Anybody ever been to Bellevue? Good lord, they know how to grow 'em there!
