I am currently in the middle of growing my first crop and i have to say theres nothing more bad ass or amazing than growing your own ganj. Im already thinking about my next crop and i was wondering the advantages of growing hydroponically or aeroponicly? i dont even know what aeroponic means. whats the best, easiest and most economical? i plan on growing 10 to 12 plants and any advice on a pro setup would be awesome. Im new to growing but very eager to learn as much as i can!

I'm no expert but my understanding is aeroponics is a subset of hydroponics. (all aero is hydro -- but not all hydro is aero). Aeroponics mists the roots rather than flooding them (Ebb and Flow) or letting them dangle in an aerated reservoir (DWC/Bubbleponics). Most of the aero I've encountered (and what I use) is a cross between aero and DWC (bubbleponics).

What i mean is - my roots are misted using a sprayer but the roots also grow into a constantly filled reservoir that is oxygenated with air pumps. Some aeroponic system use nothing but misting but to my mind - one of the benefits of aero/dwc is you don't ever have to worry about under/over watering since the roots dangle in the water all the time and the sprayer is on when the lights are on and no worries.

What you do need to be concerned about is both pH (potential for Hydrogen) and PPM (parts per million). There are successful hydro growers that do not use any meters but i think you need a green arm instead of a green thumb to get away with that! So i highly recommend a pH and PPM (also called TDS - Total Dissolved Solids) meter for any hydro growing.

Here are a few links that i find VERY handy for DIY hydro ideas -- and also for understanding pH and PPM in a hydro grow....
