A little lost

Well, I'm a bit overwhelmed and I've been reading posts in here for a few days now so I figured I'd ask for some help.

Like some others that have posted, I've delt with severe chronic depression and crippling anxiety my whole life. It's well documented with my doctors office here in Ontario, and they're severe enough that I'm on the Ontario Disability Support Program. After a physical attack 2 years ago, I also suffer from blinding migraines.

A friend hosted my daughters birthday party last week and after my 4th major panic attack in less than 2 hours, she took me up and showed me how to use her vaporizer. The effects still have me mind blown. I'm on 6 different medications just to be able to barely function and that night, not only could I function, but I was clear headed, calm and pain free. I'm 33 and before that I night, I've experienced this twice, both times I was in my teens and just fell asleep. So I'm a *complete* newbie here.

Needless to say, I want to see if this is something that that will work long term for me. My issue lies in how to go about that. I've done more than a few Google searches over the last few days and I have no idea where or how to start. Where do I find out if I would qualify for a medical licence? How do I go about applying for one? I have so many questions, I hope someone can point the way for me. Thanks for reading!

What state are you in?

MJ can help a lot with anxiety, but is also known to trigger anxiety.
Try it a few more times to make sure it's for you before jumping right in.

First off welcome to RIU. There is no question your application WILL be approved. With your medical file like you say there will be no questions. The real issue is finding a doctor to sign, if you have a good family doctor and he is willing to sign its a done deal.

If not there are a few companies in Canada that will do the paperwork and a medical cannabis doctors appointment, all done by skype. This is the way I went and the $400 dollars I was charged made my life real easy.

Check out the donoharm clinic in Kelowna

Hope this helps and pm if you have any other questions.

Talk to your Doctor. If they can't help you, they know someone who can.

Talk to your family doctor, tell them your experience, and ask for a refferal. Do some research thoguh as the federal MMAR program is up for some sweeping changes come next year!

Try some thc:cbd 1:1 ratio cannabis for anxiety. Especially the high thc low cbd might give you anxiety.

It's hard to find a doctor willing to sign because the medical associations have strongly suggested not prescribing it as there is "little evidence" to support it's use. It's still disgusting to me that Mernaugh lost, anyway. That's off topic, back on topic, check out the online clinics. By far the easiest and most direct route if your doctor isn't willing or doesn't know someone who is.

As far as strain suggestions, it really is going to vary from person to person. I know someone who gets extreme anxiety from high CBD varieties, but none at all from THC. Typically it's the opposite however. You will need to experiment, and it would probably be a good idea to have both high cbd and thc strains (with different terpene profiles as they also can have dramatic effect, especially myrcene). If you get your license the compassion clubs around the country will ship product to you (for whatever they charge) as well. Some of them have a nice selection (high cbd, high thc, etc).

Thanks everyone!! I've got my appointment with my doctor set up, I see him in a few hours. I've got a little from my friend who helped me, to experiment with. I've been using it as I did the T3's I was on and wow, so much better at killing the pain, I get very frequent migraines. So, we'll see if he will support this or if I have to go through other channels. I have to say, my anxiety is high right now! I appreciate everyone's responses, thank you for the direction and support!!
