A little seedling advice?

I have 6 DinaFem Blue Amnesia XXL seedlings which look very similar to this. Each are browning a bit and generally don't look good (drooping leaves). They're setting in a light seed starter/perlite in 60/40 mix. They're under an MArs 700w (14 inches above). They're probably averaging 80F temp right now, which I know is too hot. I'm gonna keep temp at avg 67 now. No nutes yet.

Any suggestions to salvage these babies? I'd hate for them to all die. and I know that's going to happen if I dont get a little extra help today.

Yup i agree, move the light up for a start.

The look of those make me think the cotyledons are yellow by now right? If so you might want to consider some light food.

The cots are yellow, but the plant itself is only two weeks old, maybe. I've heard a lot that seedlings' embryonic nutrient store lasts 3 weeks and never to feed before a month. Do you not agree with this? I've moved light to 24''. Thanks, guys!

Yes feed lightly. And perhaps hold off on watering a bit, not completely dry but not always wet, could be you've been over watering.

Seedlings can generally make it two weeks without food assuming the soil is empty, If you have soil with nutes in it then yeah you could make it to 3-4 weeks depending on the environment but for the most part, yellow cotyledons & starter leaves + nute-less potting mix = a hungry or unhealthy seedling.

If you feed, start of VERY lightly.

I never use anything over a 54W T-5 (or T- eights) florescent(s) until I switch to veg at around one month. They don't get hot and cheap to buy and use. I've used household LED 100W (eqiv) and got seedlings going. That's even cheaper lol.

My last three grows I've had to raise the light or downgrade in early veg. They present as having nute deficiencies, turn yellow, even start twisting leaves upside down and sideways. Raise the light and they green up! You'll never get the bottom leaves back.

thanks for the advice, guys. The seedlings were all under LEDs that we probably too powerful for them. Initially, they were under both a Mars700w (12 in or so above) plus Bestva 1800 (maybe 2 feet above). I've gotten rid of the Bestva entirely. I've got 7 early veg autos that are under the light and the seedlings all went outside. The only problem with outside is that it's hot as hell. probably 90f. Do you think they're better outside? I've also got a 4lamp, 2 ft t5, but i'm using it for my cloner.

They sell cheap 30 actual watt blurple ufos on amazon, my little ones always did well under them.
90 is a bit harsh. A cfl would be preferable.

Got nothing to do with your light how often do u water I run 2 600 watts HP's on seedlings no issues maybe a week of hardening off but after that they sit 18 cm away from seedlings no bleaching

Kinda strain dependent.
my TD 91#12 and karma og stood tall and proud under 500 watts cob while the nice guy shit, and mycoteck 413 shriveled up like slugs in salt. Cut the light in half and raised it 12 inches to 20" total and they all sprang back up. Lost the bottom two sets of leaves and they're a bit twisted, but none the worse for wear.

Can't have too much light, up to the strength of sunlight. You could have too much heat, but that's easy to check with your hand.. They look over watered to me. I never feed in the first four weeks. Those little guys aren't draining the natural nuts in your soil yet.

Sorry man, you can have too much light. I've got a setup that'll fry anything less than 2 weeks in veg to a crisp. My setup pales in comparison to most others.

The sun is not artificial light and can't be set to close but it can still be too harsh for seedlings... So yeah there can be too much light..

Clones need almost no light! I use indirect light for mine. The first cycle i took my cloning tray out from under the light i saw drastically faster rooting healthier clones. That 4 bulb t5 would be far better for your seedlings and you could run your cloner next to it to get the indirect light? Thats basically what im doing. I have a spot that fits 2 10x20 trays, the back has 2 t5 bulbs over it and my clone tray is in front of that

IMG_4116.JPG I use a single 24" 3000k T5 and there is an opaque lid in my cloning tray so very little light till they root then it's under the T5's HO for the rest of veg at about 6-8" high.

Ya I've never had an issue with too much light unless it was a heat thing. Just don't think I get more growth but haven't tried COB's either.

You can give a plant too much light without heat being the issue. It will present as bleaching. Herming can be a sign of too much light as well. Hid lights will cause heat stress along with it because of the infrared light. Leds are more likely to cause light stress/damage without heat being a factor.
