A question about t5 fixture size in a tent and ventilation

Hello all,
I have a simple question an answer to which I was unable to find online, which tells me it's not an issue, but please confirm.

I have a 2x4x5 veg tent with 2X4 t5 ho fixture I have managed to fit inside, pretty much creating 2 separate compartments.

And even though there are 1-2 inch gaps around the fixture, I have a feeling this will upset 4" inline fan setup air flow in the tent. Is this so or I'm overthinking this and those gaps around the fixture will be enough for hot air to escape up?

T5's don't generate that much heat so your inline fan should get rid of any excess heat. Just make sure you have good air circulation

As long as fresh air enters from the bottom and you vent out near the top you shouldn't have an issue with that setup.

You could just turn everything on for a coupla hours and test it to be sure. :bigjoint:

Well first off you will have little heat issues with a T5 rig.
And the gap should be enough for any access heat to escape.
I keep a 2x2 8 bulb T5 rig inside of a 2.5 x 2.5 cabinet for mini moms/seedings and small plants.
No issues at all.
You should be good to go. Test it and monitor your results. Even shit the fan off and come back 2-3 hours later so you'll know what you're looking at in a worst case scenario.

I run a 6 bulb 4 ft T5 in a 4ft by 2ft by 6 1/2 foot tent with no fan.just natural convection and heat is mot a problem so with your 4 inch blower you have nothing to worry about

I run a 4ft 8 bulb t5 in a 2x4x6. Double what you are.

I had temp problem before I routed my exhaust outside. I cut some holes in the reflector for air to move through.

You shouldn't have a problem.

Thank you all for your replies.

Thats exactly what I have. By 2x4 I meant 4ft 8 bulb fixture. I bought it by mistake instead of 4ft 6 bulb.
Had to cut a bit from one of the corners to fit it inside but didn't think about cutting holes for vent, great idea, thanks!
How big did you make the holes and how many? Are you using a fan? If yes which one and how often?

I was hoping I wont have to use the fan, at least constantly.
Is your fixture HO or NO? Do you just have exhaust and intakes open or you keep your tent open too?

I cut 4 holes. I just popped the bulbs out and cut 4 c shaped notches and folded the metal up.

I got pics in my thread somewhere but is long.

The link is in my signature.

I use a 4 inch inline fan. I have a 8 inch filter on it. I use a smal clip fan.

I got more pics in my thread. As long as you vent the exhaust out of your house the temps will be fine.

I run mine in a basement and before I vented outside my temps were high.

432 watts is quit a bit for a 2x4

I'm planning on using 4 or 6 bulbs tops depending on the temps.
Thank you for the info.

I would still have a fan going, at least intermittently. Put it on a separate timer if you have to. It doesn't just pull hot air out, it suck's fresh air in.

mine is a T5ho fixture that draws 324 watts I leave the top and bottom vents open and open the tent for a few hours in the morning when the lights are on. I run 2-4 bulbs for vegging (18/6) and 6 bulbs for flowering. I run from 6:00pm til noon for vegging and midnight till noon for flowering. the tent is in my bedroom so I don't want fan noise keeping me awake tent. temperature runs about 5 degrees above room temperature during flowering with all 6 bulbs on
