here is a little ditty i dug up while researching fed spending. i have included the source doc but here is the important part

In addition to the basic block grant, states may receive TANF funds through one
of three other mechanisms:

1.
Bonus for Decrease in Illegitimacy. Up to five states that achieve the largest
reductions in out-of-wedlock births or induced pregnancy terminations may
receive grants in the amount of $20 million each. If there are fewer than five
eligible states, those that achieve reductions will receive grants of $25 million
each. California received this bonus for FFY 1999.

all being paid for by social security.

oh what tangled webs we weave.....you know the rest.

you mean that if girls take the morning after pill then states may receive grants of 25 million??? no, that's not it.... is it giving money to states to have abortions?? it's gotta be something like this right??

no, it means that states that reduce the number of illegitimate parents by raising the amount of induced terminations (ABORTIONS!!!!), and that each of the five states that lead the list in abortions will get 25 million.... does it?? no.

actually

if you read well:

THE STATES THAT ACHIEVE THE LARGEST REDUCTION IN ILLEGITIMATE KIDS, OR ABORTIONS, RECEIVE THE MONEY.

so technically, you should be celebrating. because the fund REWARDS the 5 states with the GREATEST REDUCTION IN ABORTIONS.

^^ that last one... that's what it means.... you should be happy for this. the government is rewarding states that somehow manage to get it's citizens to only get pregnant if they mean it......

thats pretty easy to get a reduction grant, just don't report them as abortions, report them as something like Fetal Loss Syndrome. boom you get 25 million to spend on some other wasteful government pork program, like h1n1 shots full of mercury so your kids can be autistic or something similar.

nice try red. only one problem with your "theory"....the funding was for 1996 through 2002. the morning after pill wasnt even on the US market until 1999 and only available through prescription.

but other than facts...you are completely right....yeesh

I agree with red. I think you misunderstand what it says. It says the largest reductions in births or abortions.

To me that says the ones who were able to lower the illegitimate birth rate, and lower abortion rates get the money.

jeff f: what Antidis and 'red' said. Maybe do the reading BEFORE the smoking? Because you have gotten the intended meaning of the quoted passage entirely backwards.

And citing ten year old legislation as proof of present government iniquity?

Verrrry classy. Sleazy misrepresentation from the anti-abortion crowd, what IS the world coming to.

however, i wasnt citing ten year old documentation to be sleazy. just bringing something to peoples attention....that i have trouble comrehending when high. thanks for pointing that out ;-)

oh, i am not the anti-abortion crowd. while i despise the practice, still think it shoudl be available.

I'm fine with the government paying for abortions. There are too many people in the world anyways. I think every American should get 3 free mulligans.
