download a grow bible or fail. http://catnews.org/FREE Pot Books/ rosenthal and cervantes made me 100% .
install an air conditioner, dehumidifier, more air flow/exchange, air scrubbers, hid light, digi ballast, pro mix bales, Organicare fertilizer,
hand held scope. be sure to know your fuse box, its capabilities and which circuits you're on for your garden, label them. Buy a fire extinguisher, some yellow sticky traps, a bottle of neem oil, some sprayers, measuring scoop. Pick up a small wet/dry vac, broom, dust pan. follow directions in the books and on the fertilizer package. there ill be no issues if you do. no clones, seeds only, dont tell anyone, dont show off or allow visitors. rid your home of unhealthy infected houseplants. good luck

Grow bible ....or just start growing ....both those would be best ....hands on is the best ....write everything you do down in a journal ...learn from your mistakes and successes .....don't ever ...EVER!!! ..tell anyone you grow EVER!!!

That's what Riu is for ....

EVER!!!!!!!

Don't buy expensive seeds at first. Start asking around for bag seed. Get as many seeds as you can. You will kill plants. Lord knows I did. With bag seed you can practice till the process clicks. Once you have growing in soil with organics down. Then consider buying expensive seeds.

It won't matter what the bag seeds are. Sativa(tall) or Indica(short). Learn to grow whatever they are before laying the bucks down on high dollar seeds.

Don't by expensive things (lights/fans/nutrients etc) it's easy to be conned out of money when you're new to growing. But also don't buy cheap shit either.
Always best to come back to THIS forum and ask people for advice, or search threads like I did and see what others are using.
I say 'THIS forum', because I've tried a few others, and honestly, they're terrible.
RIU has, imo, the best members with the best info.
(And no I don't work for RIU lol).

Cheers guys, well right now first things ive got no idea about is, i have a temp/humidity digital thermometer, just use the sticky inserts to stick it to the inside of the tent?
Also i have a harvemax thermostat that i dont understand, it includes a cool and heat power board with a digital display, what do i do with it??

Also is it fine if i have my carbon filter on the bottom as i current have nothing to hold it up top at the moment.

Cheers in advanced.

I think ideally you want to have the carbon filter near the top, exhausting the hot air from the tent means it needs to be at the top to take the heat away too.
Have you got plants growing already? Or are you just about to start. Depending on the strain you won't really need a carbon filter until later in veg/flowering. Some are more potent than others.
And as for the Thermo/hygrometer try to have them as close to the plant/canopy as possible. You want your readings to be as accurate as possible. I have a Thermo with an extra probe that I sit directly in amongst the foliage.

For odor control the filter can be anywhere as long as you are holding negative pressure and no air is escaping anywhere else. But SonsOfAvery is correct, having it at the top helps with heat since the warmest air rises, so if it's at the top it will be exhausting more warm air and drawing cool air up thru the lower vents of the tent.

looks like it may be a thermostat that you plug a heater and a.c. into and it maintains a steady temperature. I'm no expert though. you may Google it.
That's exactly what it looks like. But unless you put an a/c in your tent, I'm not sure what you would use the cool outlet for. I have a controller for a heater; it comes on around 70 and turns off around 75. My grow space is a basement in new england and the temps will drop to about 58 in the winter. If I didn't run a heater during lights off I'd get really bad condensation.

I guess if I lived in las vegas, I have the other problem and wonder what the heater side was for. ;)

Do I need it then, because I don’t really have any super lows or really high temperatures around where I am?

All depends if you will be running a.c. and or heat. even without wild temps, you can still get temp swings depending on space and lights used.

So I found my order list and this is what I’ve got:
1X HARVEMAX GROW TENT 1.4X1.4X2M
1x HARVEMAX LED COB 432W
------
1x 6" Axial Fan
1x 6" ducting
1x HARVEMAX Carbon filter

+ an old 4” fan and ducting I had already for bringing fresh air in.
——
6set of pot kit(24L+18L)
1x Grow meter
1x Thermal controller heat&cold 2 plug
1x HM brand PH-80 kit

And also running coco+perlite mix

Waiting on these damn eggs to arrive.

Am planning on using rapid rooters or similar for germination, is this efficient, if not what is the best way?

I looked briefly at that light. At the wall it will probably pull about 200 watts. That is way too little light for a 4x4 (foot - I assume your size is meters?) space.

Can you buy from a company like timbergrowlights.com or horticulturelightinggroup.com?

This is what you want.... http://timbergrowlights.com/redwood-vs-4x4/ It's more expensive but you won't be throwing it away after 2 grows because it doesn't work. ;)

At a min, you would use this: http://timbergrowlights.com/model-4vs/

That's slightly small for a 4x4 but you can make it work.

Honestly I wasn’t the purchaser but got that all in a package cause we’re on budget and don’t have that much for it.

Ahh, sorry then. Get yourself a cheap light meter then and keep your cannopy tight under that light. Try not to exceed a 1m x 1m footprint directly under it for your first grow. The light meter will show you how quickly the light falls off at the edges and will help you to set the height.

Don't get me wrong, all lights - even the old epistar blurple lights - can grow good bud. You just can't expect too much from them. It's like pulling a trailer with a small car. You have to size it correctly or you won't get up that hill. ;)
