Will you be denied your growing license if you have a criminal record? I sure hope not, because even criminals deserve medicine! but someone recently told me it was the case? thanks!

Harsh!
The only thing I could see getting you denied is if the criminal record was cannabis related.

It depends what kind of record you have........anything to do with the devils cabbage in the last 10 years would restrict you from growing.

This is false info. You cannot enter the ACMPR as an LP with a criminal record for drug offences, but HC has said they will relax this rule to get more LP’s on board. However, those people with records can most definitely grow for themselves...they just can’t be a DG for another patient.

Production for your own medical purposes
You must meet the requirements of the ACMPR to produce cannabis for your own medical purposes. The requirements state that you must:

  • ordinarily live in Canada
  • be 18 years of age or older
  • attest that you have not been convicted of a marijuana related offense
  • not be registered more than once at any time

Read the actual application (Sec A5). Only those with drug offences arising from convictions for only abusing the MMAR or MMPR are barred from growing. If Joe Blow has a CDSA Cannabis conviction (possession/trafficking) they can most certainly grow for themselves. All DG’s must not have ANY CDSA Cannabis convictions (Sec. B8 ).

we're just gonna fill the hole in the dyke ..eh :)

A pile of shit is still a pile of shit ..:-) easy to see where the brown ends and the green pile begins..
Easy to blow the pile sky high when a person with knowledge starts in!
