Adjusting light schedule

sorry if this has been asked before, I searched, but could not find this exact question answered.

I would like to change the light schedule in my veg tent.

I have them on 18-6 and want to keep them on 18-6,but the lights are off from 1pm-7pm. I'd rather the dark time be from 7pm-1am.

Will I be fine to just switch my timer, or do I need to ease it to avoid shock? If so, can I shift it an hour every day or maybe a half hour every day until Its adjusted to where I want?

Thanks.

Just leave your lights on till you get to the time you want, extra light period won't make any difference in veg.

Thats not what I'm going to do. This tent is perpetual so I'd rather right the ship
The ganj father is right. Extend your light period for the one day it'll take to reach the time you want your new dark period to start. The alternative is to extend the dark period which you obviously don't want to do with vegging plants.

Of course there is a third option. Don't bother asking for advice if you're just going to do what want and tell people you don't want their advice.

I veg all my plants at 24/0 so you don't have to worry about shocking them. What you need to avoid is clicking the ballast/bulb on and off more than necessary. That's the quickest way to blow bulbs. Plug your timer into the wall, disconnect the ballast and use any electrical device (I suggest an electric drill) to plug into the timer. That way you can spin the timer and check it with the drill rather than turning a bulb on and off.

Tell the truth, you'd be better off getting rid of the timer and veg at 24/0. I've been doing it that way for 10 .years and find it works well.

Good luck, BigSteve.

As long as the opinion door has been opened.

I've never been a fan of 24/0!

Especially for rooting cuttings. Less is more for attempting to root cuttings! 18/6 and I don't have them under direct light. My clones stay greener longer (for tough to root strains, it's far better).

Everyone who said to simply run the lights to your new time set. Are correct!
