Advanced Nutrient: Connoisseur A/B + organic combo (huge buds!)

I've been messing around with a few different nutrient companies lately - Botanicare, Dutch Master, Humboldt County's Own, Fox Farm and Advanced Nutrients. (in soil)

For the most part, everything tends to perform decently well if you know what you're doing (including over-the-counter miracle grow). The main thing I noticed was that certain strains tended to react differently to the nutrients. I might get huge buds from HCO or Botanicare with a couple strains, but a couple others might turn out just "ok."

After getting frustrated trying to figure out what mixture of what I needed for each different strain, I decided to say F$#k it and drop some bucks on some of the pricier AN products.

I've been reading about Connoisseur, advertisements saying it's better than anything out there, blah blah. I never trust ads, anyone can say they're the best. But, I have tried Sensi A/B with great results, so I decided to drop the extra $$ and pick up a liter of each.

One thing I'm very concerned with when I grow is soil and root health. So, I decided to also dip deep into my wallet to get some AN beneficial bacteria, micro, etc.

$300-$400 later, here was my shopping list:

Base Nutrients
Connoisseur A
Connoisseur B

Soil and Root Health
Voodoo Juice
Piranha
Tarantella
Sensizyme
Nirvana
Mother Earth Bloom Tea

Extras
Bud Candy

Pros:
All I can say is WOW. These things are growing great! Buds are huge and falling all over the place (imagine a pencil trying to support a water bottle). I've never seen healthier plants, no burn, no deficiency. The smell is great, I can't wait to get a final weight and compare to my previous grows. Noticeably larger, just by looking at them.

Cons:
WARNING: NOT FOR AMATEUR OR LAZY GROWERS!!! The Connoisseur is a very touchy nutrient. You need to combine part A with the reservoir/watering container and mix well before adding the part B. Also, the Connoisseur is synthetic, meaning it most likely kills a lot of the organic micro and beneficial bacteria. This requires a careful cycling of the Connoisseur and the organic mix to ensure the soil is almost always alive and healthy, while still getting the full benefit of a great synthetic. I have a 4 part cycle I like to use: (I usually water every 3 days)
1) medium Connoisseur/bud candy watering. 2) light Connoisseur/bud candy watering 3) medium organic* watering. 4) Pure water, no nutrients. (repeat cycle)

*(fill reservoir 3/4 with water, add medium suggested amount per liter of Voodoo Juice, Piranha, Tarantella, Sensizyme, Nirvana, and the Mother Earth Bloom Tea; then fill reservoir the rest of the way. Bud Candy optional)

This combination has given me the best, healthiest buds yet; but if you're short on cash, there are MANY, MANY other options that will still get you awesome buds. This combo of nutes has given me (visually) about a 10%-15% size increase. But, that's at a $$$ cost increase of about 200%.

Conclusion: Personally, I'm going to keep using it. I like playing chemist and pushing the limits of the plants. Cost/benefit wise, I suggest getting something else. But, if you are willing to put the time and money in to see results, I 'highly':weed: recommend this nutrient combination.

WOW - what a great posting.

I really like the way you put it about Conni - yes, it's not very easy to use. I mean, once you get a handle on it, you will begin to see amazing results...but you need to be willing to work hard in order to see those results.

And let's face it - no one wants to work hard.

Especially the folks on these boards...LOL. Myself included.

But once you do get the hang of things, it is easy enough to use and the results make all of the hard work worth it. And for my money, Advanced Nutrients is just the best system out there. Hands down.

People can say what they want, but I think anyone who gives AN a try will be happy with the results they see.

I grow hydro and I have been a GH/Botanicare user for some time now.

I decided to give AN a try just due to the fact that it is an intriguing product and there are so many mixed reviews out there. But I have seen some really amazing grows with this stuff from people I know personally who swear by it. I needed to see for myself how good it is so I could put an end to the debate in my own head. :P

I went ahead and got the expert lineup:

-conni A+B
-piranha
-Voodoo Juice
-Big Bud
-Overdrive
-B-52
-Sensizym
-Bud Candy

Got a pretty good deal on a lot of the stuff, I paid less then 300 for the whole line so I figured why not give it a shot. It seems like a lot of additives and extra crap, which it kind of is. However, most of the additives (aside from bud candy) only get used once or twice during the entire flowering cycle. So 1 liter bottles should last a pretty good while even for people with relatively large reservoirs.

I'm on week 2 now. I was pretty skeptical going into this, especially since I have always subscribed to the sterile reservoir school of hydro. I was pretty sure after 1 week I would find a mess in my reservoir and have to toss the beneficials and go back to using zone or h202 in the res. However, I have been pleasantly surprised.
Friday will be the beginning of week 3. The plants look amazing so far, roots are light brown from the innoculation of piranha however they are super healthy with lots of hairs etc, and they smell pretty good, like fresh alfalfa or something. Plants are very green no nutrient burns etc, I am doing about 1/2 the recommended dose of connosieur at this point as I hear it is some pretty hot stuff.

As for the stuff being PH perfect. That seems to be a load of shit. Either the products I received are not the PH perfect formula or it just doesn't work. But my ph has been rising about as much as it usually does with any other nutes overnight. No big deal, but it'd be nice if it worked better.

Anyway, so far I am pleased with how things are coming using the beneficials and not having to use zone/bleach or h202 in the reservoir. And the plants all look very happy. So far so good. I haven't even broken into most of the additives yet as I am not that far along in flower. I am keeping pretty close tabs on this grow and comparing it to previous runs where I used GH/botani. I'm anxious to see how everything turns out. I'm not expecting to double my yield or anything crazy. I did this more as an experiment to see if any of AN's claims have any merit to them (bigger yields, potency, flavor, aroma). If the crop ends up being wildly successful I may end up becoming an AN convert. But at this point it's still too early to tell and I am still pretty skeptical. I gotta say though I am considering ditching the sterilization products and continuing to use the AN beneficials on the rest of my grows. They seem to be working really well so far.

Yeah, those are really leaning all over the place. You might want to invest in some fishing line or something to tie those cola's up. Don't use yarn or any string that has a lot of fibers; you don't want them getting threads stuck in your bud.

I'd say Bud Candy for sure. You don't really 'need' much more than that. Assuming you have good soil (FF Ocean Forest, Roots Organic, Black Gold, etc), you can get away with Sensi A/B and Bud Candy and still get great results.

Advanced Nutrients for Retarded growers .. Imagine that ! I can use Cutting Edge 3 part and spend much less and harvest much more in the end .. Enjoy the new labels and ph perfection .Go Big Mike .. No offense meant to the Poster but you are being ripped off severely

^^^^^^^^ how do you know that you yield more he never said nothing about it seems to me like an advanced hater give advanced a try 150$ isn't a lot of money the hobbyist is all you need but I've tried many many nutrient lines no lie and advanced is what I use when not using super soil taste I give to fox farm, botanicare, and canna but yields advanced all day throw some ooze bloom toward the end every flower looks like white widow

After a couple of runs, I think I have Conni figured out!
That's a great system doing the synthetic-organic-pure water.
I've been doing this on my last run doing a 12/12 from seed experiment.
I'm using:
Connoissuer A&B (Old Label)
I use a little less of "A" unless I need N/Calcium etc.
.5-1.0 ml A to 1.5-2.0 ml B
Then as additives:
Bud Candy
Piranha
Tarantula
Voodoo Juice
Nirvana
Rhino Skin

I'm growng hempy buckets perlite/vermiculite mix 3/1. I just invested in some overdrive, been using hesi throughout the grow but the guy in the hydro shop said either bud xl or overdrive in last few weeks will increase weight, so I went for overdrive. I'm I interested in using other AN products but with so many to choose from I do t really know where to start.
What do I need to use for my grow from start (clones) to finish. In the advanced nutrients line up?

Nute burn because you're not suppost to use 4 ml per liter. Cut it in 1/2. 2 ml per liter should be fine, assuming your ladies are at least 2 ft. Tall. Then work your way up as you see fit.

Why do i get nute burn with conney? Did just as the lable said ive used sensi and never had this problem?
First, ^^^^^ True. Don't use full strength. Start with half. Second, make sure you're getting enough runoff. I run Sensi A&B with a few extras so not familiar with the Connie but if your not getting a lot of runoff you can get lockout pretty easy. Even at half dose every other watering. Check your runoff PPMs.

Worked with Seni A/B, Vegamatrix, AN Conni, Botanicare all in different grows. Each base line performed differently. Soil (mixed)/45gal GroPro/5-Dice lighting style/600w. ONLY fed during bud, H2O all of Veg/T5.

Sensi/Botanicare:
yield- average
smell- average
look- average
taste- average

AN Connoisseur:
yield- large
smell- above average
look/taste- above average

Vegamatrix:
yield- above average
smell- best
look/taste- good

Sensi: PROS- easy to use, cheaper* CONS- typical nutrient.

Botanicare: PROS-"organic", decent line of other products and easy to find, difficult to overdose CONS- average at best

Vegamatrix: PROS- ORGANIC, easy to use, great results CONS- pricey, needs higher dosage on chart for proper feeding (used more than recommended for the first time ever!...x2 as recommended)

Connoisseur: PROS- Easy to use, excellent results CONS- bit pricey, synthetic*, need to wait between mixing each part......

Experimented with Vegametrix and Connoisseur side by side (separate rooms, same cycle, same gen). Vega had better smell and taste, but the Conno had a definitively higher yield (10%). And with the prices around the same, the result seems to be slightly leaning to Connoisseur. For its higher/tighter yields and price efficiency.
