AeroGarden Guide *NEW AND IMPROVED*

The air pump, tubing and air stones are used to pump air into your reservoir. This oxygenates the roots which will in turn help growth.

The figure 8 cord allows you to connect the lights to a timer. This will allow you to switch from 18/6, for veg, to 12/12 for flower.
How do you use the figure 8 cord to connect the lights to a timer? Cant you just use an analog timer power strip like this one: http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=reptile+timer&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=3450505889&ref=pd_sl_81gqfa0yrn_b:dunce:

MAYBE A LITTLE MORE DETAILED INFO.... Like how ofter to water? Design ideas with pics?
lol, have you looked at ALL the AG guides?

https://www.rollitup.org/aerogardeners/168751-aerogarden-guide-faq-v-2-a.html

This gives you everything you need, and if you actually read thru it, most of your answers will probably be answered. Its DWC, you water the plants when the rez gets low. And there isnt much design besides putting in a air stone, and detaching the AG hood from the base so you can freely move it up and down with your extra CFL's

yeah those would work fine, but you still need to connect the figure 8 cord to the lights, since they go one and off according the settings you put the AG on.

This is the fig 8 cord, found in that link i posted above

You see that two prong thing at the end? thats the same type of plug that connects into the AG light from the base of the AG.

My main concern is which setting should be used with the Aerogarden? I have it on Strawberries/Live Plants. I have seen some people use tomato and also the herb setting.

The settings dont really matter, unless you haven't got a fig 8 cord to set up your own light schedule. And dont have a airstone to replace the AG pump. The settings just control the lights, and how long the AG pump is on. If you haven got the air stone and fig 8 cord yet, i would put it on strawberry's, i believe it has the pump of 24/7, and the light schedule at 18/6. But the Ag website should have what the settings do.

Thought I'd share as to why, even though I have a tent and grow in coco, I also am always perpetually growing 1 plant in an aerogarden. Simply, its because I use the aerogarden for short autoflowers only. Aerogardens are particularly well suited for this purpose, especially if you have the "tall" version.

I only grow ONE plant at a time. (if it turns out to be a male I just start another one, autoflowers let you know in a reasonable amount of time.)
I only have to make 1 gallon of water, (convienient).
I can run the built in pump and stock lights for at least two weeks before I have to add additional lighting and an airpump.
I grow with BMO nutes. They work best when constantly being aerated.
It is very easy to adjust PH. The bottles I have seem to last forever!
There are some really wonderful autoflowers out there.
If you also purchase a 4X2 tent, lighting and odor control are a piece of cake! AND it does not need venting!! Just open it twice a day.
Autoflower plants in an aerogarden respond well to UFO LED's. (next I will try a Kessil LED)
Except for the initial investment, its cheap and easily provides enough for a personal grow.

Don't overcomplicate this. Check your PH once a day. Add lights when needed, watch your roots so you don't seize the built in pump, do not use Foxfarm nutes, (to much silt), also do not use the fertilizer tabs that come with the Aerogarden, change the built in lights yearly and sit back and enjoy the grow!

Oh and if you have the cash remove the hood and use a LED UFO to flower. I prefer the Lighthouse Hydro.

And allow me to emphasize, only short autoflowers! Read the info on the seeds before ordering. Good luck!

Getting ready to do a batch in my ag. i currently have my seeds germinating. i would like to try and grow 3 beauties and will be coming here to share the details with the everyone coming along for the ride. i see so many lovely lovely ladies. i am jealous, i want one of my own!! i have a few questions to which any advice or insight would be most appreciated.

1. i am about to purchase some cfl's. i've noticed some of these lights have really high outputs of lumens. is there such a thing as too much lumens... or the more lumens the better when it comes to the veg and flo stages?

2. would i be better off getting these cfl's with higher lumen outputs or am i better off just getting some lights from walmart etc?

3. how many cfl's would help me get the best results?

4. when i setup my cfl's should i still use the stock lights that came with the ag along with the cfl's?

5. should i get a tent for my ag or should i just build a growbox?

i want nothing but the best for my babies. any and all answers will be greatly appreciated... thanks in advance,

1, no.
2, Either way is good, you want Day Light Bulbs for veg, and soft white for flower.
3, I would have at least 150 watts of CFL's.
4, Yes, use your AG hood, you can detach it, and hang it freely when you get your figure 8 cord hooked up.
5, Either way is fine, as long as you have a light proof area for the plants.

yo sicc, thanks a bucnch for the answers.

i had another quick question? i was thinking of having two seperate boxes/tents. i can use one strictly for the veg stage and possibly cloning in the future (when i get the hang of what i am doing). the other box/tent would be used for the strictly for the flowering stage. is this a good idea or can all three be done in one tent as easily?

thanks again for the help,

Separate grow area's is the way to go, you cant really veg/flower in the same space unless you split it into two, and completely light proof it. Which i think is just more of a hassle.

Here's a newbie question....I've had 2 grows now with the AG. But im not seeing the results that i should be getting.. Am I suppose to add the 6500 K bulbs and the 2700 K at the same time? I know the 6500 is for veg and the 2700 is for flowering. So what I did was started with 4 6500k cfl and then when it came to flowering I replace the 6500 with 4 2700k cfl. Any info would be great...Thanks

You can run both spectrum's if you like, it doesn't really matter. How many watts are you running? The more lights, the better.

alrighty... i have picked out my growing tents i will be going with.

i am leaning towards 3x3 grow tents. but i would like to have enough space to have both; a small ag grow with 1-2 plants as well as maybe 3-4 five gallon buckets growing inside as well. is this possible in a 3x3 grow tent or should i move to a 4x4 tent?

also as for lighting. i was planning on going with a quality 400w mh/hps lighting system w/ a nice reflector. for optimum growth and my yield... will one good/strong light do in my grow tents (taking into consideration that i would like to have both an aero grow and a few 5gal growing inside) or do i need to have more lights to meet my ambitions? if i need or should probally add additional lighting. would adding a couple or a few cfls on the side be beneficial? what wattage bulbs would be recommended in addition to the 400 mh/hps lighting system i will be using to begin with???

any and all info will be greatly appreciated. i want nothing but the best for my babies.

thanks in advance....

Why not just grow in the bucket's and not in the AG? Unless you were going to start in the AG, then move them into the buckets. a 400 watter would be good, a 3x3 i think would be too small, well i mean you want more head room then 3 ft high.

Yeah I would get more light's, thats only 92 watts, i would try and get at least 150 watts, if not more.
