Today was day 41, both plants are now showing flowers so I drained the res (first time doing this!) and switched over the the Canna Flores nutes.

Some pics from today - you can see the 2700K CFL I added yesterday

very interested and can't wait to see the main cola on that topped one. Thumbs up!
Thanks BongMan, the topped plant should give 4 main cola's (if I did it right )
You can see it on the left in the pics above - I made a bit of a mistake while doing the topping and nicked one the stems by accident so you can only see 3 main branches, the other one recovered but isn't as high.

The tallest plant (the one I didn't top) has outgrown the cabinet!
I made a wooden frame and lined it with Mylar and placed that on top of the IKEA cabinet and the supported the AG hood and CFL on that. Having to adjust the PH quite a bit now since adding the flowering nutes - using Ph up for the first time!

Here's a view from below and above!

Here's some more pics from yesterday. Had to leave my grow for a few days so I just filled the aerogarden res to the max and hoped for the best.
It all seems to have worked out ok - res was half full when I returned and no signs of nutrient defficiency or burn.
Clone is dead! Didn't expect much here and everything else is going well so I am not too sad!

Well, we are nearly at the end of week 7. Supposedly should harvest at week 9 (according to seed packet) but I think they have a few more weeks left in them yet!

The non-topped plant is seriously flowering at this stage and has finally stopped getting any higher! The topped plant has just shown its first flowers and is till growing up.
I have an (extended) cabinet full of foliage at the moment. Very impressed with the aerogarden so far - I haven't lost a single leaf yet - still even have the cotyledons!
The AG is a great learning tool!

Well guys, the topped plant (the one on the left in the pictures) has actually grown taller than the untopped plant - so tall in fact that I had no room to extend! :!:

So I had to scrap the IKEA cabinet and replaced it with a grow tent. I also replaced the AG hood with a 150W 2700K CFL and reflector:

Autoflowering plants usually start flowering around week 3 (day 21), also, theyre REALLY small (some very stretched) for 41 days of veg man. My plants are in soil and growing ALOT faster than that man, even though I topped them at the 2nd node. You need more air exchange and more light. Also you cant clone autoflowering plants, they wont root cos they cant be "reset" to age 0 to grow roots, it should just start flowering eventually but not root.

Not trying to be a dick, just trying to help.

Hey, no problem man - all comments are welcome!

Yeah, I agree with what you are saying - I was limiting this grow to only using the aerogarden as far as possible as a kind of experiment to see what it was capable of.
Most people seem to supplement the AG with extra lighting and I couldn't find a definite answer as to what the AG by itself could do so I decided to try it out myself.
Obviously it is not optimal and next time around I will be using a lot more light and probably a home made DWC system (to increase the resevoir size).

I hear you on the moving air thing too - I didn't bother with this (to keep energy costs down), again to see if I could get away with it!

The "clone" was just a bit of a laugh really - didn't actually expect anything to happen there :-)

Hmmm i must say your buds are not looking bad at all... at least not on the the one plant.

Nice journal! I definitly will follow this one... saw allready you started the same like i did with adding extra things during the grow. Im allready planning to make my own "Aerogarden" for the next grow with a bigger reservoir :)

Well it's day 70 today - 10 weeks from germination.
Here are some pics from today.

2011_05_16_ (3).jpg2011_05_16_ (4).jpg

The smaller plant (on the right) is 30 inches tall and the plant on the left is 36 inches tall.

The smaller plant is further along (as the larger plant was topped in the 3rd week), here is the top cola in the smaller plant:

Obviously both plants have vegged too much and stretched - learned some valuable lessons for the next time around. I have had the lights on 20/4 as reccomended on the seed packet but this clearly hasn't worked out. I slowly brought the lighting down to 12/12 over the past week to see if that helps out any.

Here are some trich porn from the smaller (further along) plant:

Hey I have a few questions. Which aerogarden do you suggest and are you using the lights that came with it?
Hi, I am using the aerogarden classic - that's the one with seven pods (i.e. plant spaces). A big limiting factor with the aerogarden is the size of the resevoir so you should get the biggest one you can afford. The one I have is good for one or maybe two plants max.
I used just the aerogarden hood/lights until my plants got too tall then I had to buy another reflector and bulbs. If you just grew one plant and tried to keep it short then you could probably get away with just using the aerogarden lights - I've seen some vids on youtube where people have done this.

I started a progressive harvest on the non-topped plant today. Cut down the main cola:

There are lots of branch buds which need a few days yet, so I am going to cut them as they are ready. I'll give a final weight once It's all done!

Hey dude.. what was your total harvest? Really interested to see because i also cut mine down today :)
It still had a little bit to go but i got rootrot so had no choice. Im really happy with my total harvest and cant wait to weigh it when its dry.

Hey man, I only got 10grams of bud (+2 grams of hash) from the first plant. I learned my lesson the hard way there - it was stretched to crap and the buds were not dense at all. The smoke is amazing though!
I have just harvested the second plant which got wayyyyyyy more light during flowering and I have at least five times the amount of bud from that - still drying this though - I'll post some pics below.

How did yours do in the end?

I chopped the second plant a few days ago, here are some pics before chopping:

There were buds everywhere - not really clear in the pics. I'll update with the final weight from this plant in a few days.
