So I am brand new to this I have never tried to grow my own. But I live in Alaska and it can be hard to find at time so I figured why not give it a try. I have read over 150 forum pages on the aerogarden. Tek's entire 1st forum, world of weedcrafts, and any others I can find. I am trying to decide whether to start with the Aerogarden Deluxe or with Bubblepnics system (link Below and which of those would be best please feel free to give me any advice that you beleive will be helpful.... I am planning on get feminized seeds probably BUBBLEBERRY, Blueberry, White Widow, or Bubblegum........

Well I am the proud owner of a AG 200 Pro and I been sorely disappointed thus far. I got one little plant about 2" tall. The others aint sprouted or just aint growing for some reason. Seems like there was a big thread running about that particular company which peddles the stealth bubbleponics being crooks or something to that effect. Start reading up on "hempy buckets"

bigwheel, but don't give up. there are a few add ons you could do. or younghova has no add ons and he has got decent looking plants.

if your using bagseed expect anything, especially a hard time. i went thru it until i had found some seeds that worked.

i planted 7 and got 2, i planted 5 more and got 2, i planted 3 more and got 2 and finally got the last one in number seven pod.

u don't need the pump running after your roots touch the water. that should help keep temps down. you don't need to change the light but its a good idea as well as add hps or mh.

if u don't run the pump u need an air stone.

i know younghova has no stone, no light change and might be using AG nutes.

i read somewhere else that some one was doing fine without the stone as well.

for some reason, in my "area", geographically, where i grow blah, blah , blah, is different for everyone so some things work better for others. i need air stones and correct nutes. TEK doesn't. whatever. u just got to find what works for you. Some like and use the AG nutes. They werent working for me and i got General Hydroponic stuff.

and by the way because of my seed selection planting regimen, my plants are all different sizes.

another thing that i am doing that is against the readings on this site is i only have a home depot 70w hps light. so i will have data and info on how well it might actually do in my small area.

swampy, No the AG is not designed for growing mary jane, But it is a good learning tool for first time growers. i have learned so much and YES i would definitely build my own. In fact i KEEP re-reading that 30 MINUTE AEROPONIC BUILD post that is up.

here are some pics. they are in grow order. the first is 1-2 weeks, the next is 2-3 weeks, then 3-4 weeks and then 5-6 weeks. the last picture is of pod #7 that i plants the latest. it is being hidden under the biggest one by a fan leave.

listen to big wheel, if you check my grow you will see, I have tried soil, and aerogarden, and a diy bubleponics system ( if you are going to do bubleponics build it) and now hempy buckets.... IMHO, and based on my own results, I would take hempy hands down over any of the other methods, especially as a total newbie, it is simplicity at its finest, and you dont need to go to a hydro store or order a system online... check it out

Well thanks for all them tips. It is some real crappy seed. I have an airstone. Tried one of the screw tail CFL lights to supplement a little but think I wound up burning the edge of the leaves with it..so took it out. Guess I try to fiddle with the one I got. Got two more holes showing green but aint nothing popping out. Sorta crazy deal. It usually hovering around 90 in the grow space. Maybe that is causing the problemo. I got a purty good location for a Hempy bucket grow..just gonna take a little thinking and logistics on the deal.

I thought this might be a good thread to give my experience with the AG so far. I too used bag seed with the stock lights and nutes. I am a noob with no grow experience. Now what I have learned in the past month and a half I wouldn't have bought the AG. Not to say its useless but for what it is it's overpriced. Since planting 3 sets of seeds I lost 1 set. I have added 2 additional CFL on the side, fox farm nutes, and a 4" air stone (this was a huge improvement in growth). I hesitated to give my opinion based on 1 grow, but after reading these boards constantly since I started I would have been better off building my own; like the DWC FlilthyFletch showed us. But I'm gonna follow this one through and see what happens. They are doing ok now besides some early nute burn. But again, If I could go back I would have built my own.

Bubbleponic systems are not well thought out. I have the 6 plant model and I will be building my own next time. There is no way you could actually put 6 plants into the one I have. The space is way too small for 6 plants. Not only that, but you throw 6 root systems, an air stone or two, a pump hooked to a plastic hose hooked to a diverter that turns 1 hose to 6 hoses that are all supposed to go into each of these buckets... well you get the point. Changing the water for 1 -2 plants sucks, and changing 6 would be impossible. Not to mention the res doesnt hold enough water in my opinion.

Bubbleponics is kinda lame... you would be WAY better off just building something yourself.

I do like the other system that you have up there.

So now that I have decided to use Hempy Buckets. I am also considering LED for lights they have came down in price some and the stuff I have read they work fine for inddor grows. Anyone who has experience with them please let me know your thoughts

Well I have 3 foot by 20 inch area so basically 3x2 area I can do 8 soil and 6 in bubbleponics <--- what I'm doing now, but I think I can do like 6 or 8 in a one gallon Hempy setup or 4 to 6 plants in a 3 gallon Hempy setup, not sure my next grow will be Hempy Buckets..

As far as led's I was told they are great for the Veg stage, but to use HPS or MH for flowering is still the best... I currently use CFL's for clone/mother/veg and a 250HPS for flowering, I am thinking about going LED for my clone/mother and reg area not sure yet...

hey how is the 250w as far as temperatures? What do you do too keep it cool, I want to try an hps so bad but I dont think I can manage the heat and still make it cost effective

Well I have an armoire I bought from Meijer's It's like Walmart.. MY main growing area is 3x2x5.5feet I currently Have a 100CFM Inline Duct Fan, It's basically what HVAC people use it's called a booster fan.. I have it in the main area sucking air, it's connected to 4inch flexable vent dryer ductwork that goes out the side of the cabniet and then into a Carbon Scrubber 4inch by 12 inches...

Heat right now isn't really a prob but I will keep you posted and let you know this is the first time I have used a HPS setup before that I was growing one plant at a time in my closet using CFL's LOL

I love my aerogarden but maybe its not for everyone. i have a lowryder female and she has grown i know at least 14 inches in height and is thick with vegetation. i never thought a lowryder could be so big. but for those looking for larger grows its different i don't think the reservoir is large enough for more than two normal plants. thats why i chose lowryders and damn if i didn't have to tie her down.
