Aerogarden Question

I was wondering if it would be possible to grow enough for casual use with just the $99 AeroGarden 3 with the light on a timer. If needed later on, I could also supplement the light with an HPS 400, but the up-front cost is a little to high for me at the moment for me to get both at once.

Simple Anwser Yes; you will need a par 138 red led Bulb (EBAY) and a small white fan and ~48" x 24" of mylar to wrap around unit Trim at 6 weeks go 12/12 adding red light @ 8 wks or you will outgrow unit very quickly. Have a back up plan if you need to go to a bigger unit

Backup plan would be transfering to soil, which I would have setup already in case it was needed. My goal is to be able to grow enough for personal use (which for me isn't very much), maybe a small bowl a few times a week at most. Anyways, I'm trying to keep costs down while having an easy to use system. I was thinking while I was at the store, I could get an Aerogarden 3 for $99, get an HPS 400 for around $100 from ebay, and also get a grow tent to keep it all in (with a small fan of course).

Opinions?
