Do you think it matters if the vortex is before or after the light? what I mean to say is, if you had the vortex pulling air over the light and then pushing it out, rather than pushing air over everything. Only wondering because in my "hypothetical" setup I have a carbon filter with a can fan pulling air through it. That air is pushed from the can fan through ducting and then through a ventilated reflector. The exhaust of the reflector is connected to more ducting which connects to the intake of my 424 cfm vortex (I run it on a dimmer to control the velocity... very nice for heat control) and then I run the exhaust of the vortex out through a vent in the top of the door. Because of my location I have an intake vent at the bottom of the door and the door itself stays closed all the time. I have a 400 W HPS but my buddy wants a 1000 and I just wanted some input on whether or not to follow a similar setup. Nice grow and setup, btw.
Welcome Leo,

I think having it on the other side would work, however i think the best advantage to this setup i have, is that it does push out the heat, and it also has constint moving air obeing pushed over it, i think it would cool it better.

i am planing on getting a filter and it will go in the room with the same set-up, to borrow a illistration

filter>>>vortex>>>vent>>>>>cool tube>>>>vent

With that being said, i think you said you have the 6" vortex(which is 400+ CFM, i am getting this same one in afew weeks, this mioght be powerful enough sucking to do the job

Nice to see another new face, good to know there are people lurking in the shadows, i think, lol, jk.

I will def jump over to your grow right now, and i would like to take this oppertunity to say if there are more people watching that haven't posted, just say hey, and i would love to check out your grow, i love seeing different ways of approaching the same goal!!

i am current6ly into week 7 of my grow, and i hope to harvest on july 1, so in about week12 or so, i think my plants need this time to recover from stresses i have done to them, but hey, lice and learn, my next grow will reap the knowlede gained!!

Thank you very much for the encouraGEment, i am very insecure when it comes to my grow, i always think i could do more, and i try to do it as best as money and knowlede will allow, though even right now i know i could do more. i am however buying a carbon filter tommorow, it will cost $100 but today when i cam to the opening door of my BUILDING, i could smell it growing, normally i am not paranoid because my two neighbors know i smoke and are used to the smell of me smoking, however this was different, my ladies are starting to STINK. today was the first day i have ever felt alittle paranoid about my grow, so i have to put my mind at ease

Hello everybody,

So i just bought a Chlorofil carbon filter finnally!!! I have no idea how i am going to mount in though, i guess i will go to the hardware store and fiqure something out, like chains or something.

For right now i have the end poking out of my room going into the filter, but i want it mounted like i have it held in the pic.

I really hope this takes away that sweet sweet smell.

It didn't come with any instructions, it had a can(the filter) a cloth(i assume goes over the can) and some weird rope thing's with plastic things that seem to do nothing, i have no clue, i hope i have it on right, anyone with knowlede of filters, please chime in!!

well anyway enjoy the pics, just one more month to go

I just have mine standing, no mounting needed.

I have that done now, on my output, but it doesen't seem as though alot of air is coming through, i think it would be more effective if i hook it to the back of my vortex??

If i didn;t smoke so much dope i would prob be able to smell if it was working, however that is pretty much out of the question since i don't really smell pot anymore.

Hey dude. I typed a long response that I lost so sorry if this is breif (haha, I think my breif is normal for everyone else). First that strap is to hold the filter to the bag. They are super stong and work simply (even if un-intuative). I keep them any time I get them in packages.

Second. I think it's agreed that the filter would work much better before the fan. Why not set it on the ground by your plants and run ducting up the back of the fan? then have it exhuast out where the filter is sitting now.

Third. All you need to hand it is two straps around the filter and something to hood those straps to the wood up there. Then you can use a tiny flex ducting to hook up filter and fan. Are you wondering what exactly to use as straps and hooks?

How is this, i think this will work better, its hooked in with some plumber strap.
It may sound stupid, but that last picture almost gives me goosebumps. You got it perfectly mated to the fan, nice job. I love it when things fit perfectly and snugly. I think the whole thing looks pretty pro. As long as it's all nice and tight and never going to fall, then it's all good. (I'm not suggestiong it looks like it's going to fall, just want to make sure)

Awesome looking setup now... nothing like a couple weeks ago.

hey guys,

so here is another pic update, i havent saw alot of new growth, but there has been alittle, i think the fact that this is spose to be a fast flowering strain is why, it should have been done noe, but i fucked up so many times, lol, i dont think the yeild will be what i wanted when i first started this grow, but considering how much i did mess up on certain things, i think it will be alright. My fox farm sche is out, cause according to that i should of harvested, i know i should prob wait like jigg, but i just can't wait for many different reasons, one being i am going on holiday:) another being i need to totaly redesign my room to chamnge the temps, this means my next grow will have alot more room when they go into flowering.

anyway i'm rushing here but first i just want to comment on the smell, wow, lol. it is really starting to smell sweet, and fruit like. i never got when people said that before, but i do now, my carbon filter is not taking it all out of the air, though its obviously because my flap is always open during light hours.

So i will be starting my two week flush after one or two more nute feedings.

please let me knoe what you think

by the way i updated my clone thread today, please check it out, the link is in my sig!!

bad doggie eatin da turkey, haha. He (?) is cute as hell man.

Those buds are looking juicy. Hard to tell with the quality of pictures, but I think they might be just right by the time you end up cutting them. Let's hope the voodoo that got into my plants isn't as stong at your place.

Props on almost finishing the grow... this is the hardest part.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how we do on maybe our 3rd or 4th grow. When we actually know what the hell we are doing (at least more than this time anyway).

I love your doggy.
