Afghan Kush Ryder - WTF lets SEED ONE

I saw this stuff called Tiresias Mist that says it produces fem seeds on a fem plant.

I thought what the hell. The Tiresias Mist was $20 and if I could get a shit load of seeds the gamble is on. I had some AKR seeds I bought a while back and went digging around the shop for an old veg box. The box is a small cabinet maybe 2'H x 2'W x 1'D and has 4 cfls across the top. Perfect for this project.

So I germed 1 AKR seed and put into a 1 gal pot with FFOF about 4 months ago. Lights on 24/7. No nutes.

When the plant was 5" tall I started spraying the stem right below the "bud" sights. I did this every day until the spray ran out. It says to spray for 21 days. I maybe got to 15 days because I went crazy with it thinking if pollen is going to be dropping in here, the whole plant is getting seeded. So I sprayed it everywhere I could.

The plant was growing fine but I saw nothing else happening. Approx 2-3 weeks after the spray was all used up I started seeing this:

I know the pics aren't that good. I wasn't planning this write up at the time.

Sorry I didn't document dates, but at some point pollen sacs developed - hell ya. So everyday I would go out there, hold my breath, and gently flick the bud sites and watch the pollen fall onto other bud sites. I did that do about a week.

That's it - Lights on 24/7, FFOF soil, non ph'd water, no nutes.

I don't know why I let this plant go 4 months. I suppose I wanted the most mature seeds possible.

This was a fem plant so all seeds should be fem. I'll germ a few seeds that fell off the plant a month ago. They should be ready to go.

If those seeds are feminized, this looks pretty cool. It'll be interesting to see how they do. I'll definitely follow the progress if you are going to journal the grow.

I just read the reviews on Amazon, which were mixed. None of the reviews documented what happened with the feminized seeds that were produced.

How It Works

Tiresias Mist (Patent Pending) allows for even the most amateur grower to produce their own feminized seeds. The active ingredient in Tiresias Mist is safe and effective. A one ounce bottle will treat one branch of a plant to produce feminized seeds on the same plant, or to produce genetically female crosses with other plants. What you are doing using Tiresias Mist, is taking a female plant, treating one branch and enabling that one branch to create male characteristics i.e. pollen sacs. You can then take the pollen from that branch and pollinate the flowers of the rest of the plant to produce seeds that will, 100% of the time, be feminized.

The only thing I did different was treat all the branches vs just one.

I remember reading an article somewhere describing a very similar process using colloidal silver on one isolated branch of the plant. Colloidal silver is used in alternative health both internally and externally, so I suspect if you get a reputable brand it is safe. It should be less expensive as well. I wonder if that's what's in it? CS is odorless and usually colorless or almost colorless (very slight yellow or gray cast depending on mfr method and concentration), or it would appear to be like water if you were looking at a tiny bit that dripped off a leaf onto a paper towel or something like that. What does the Tiresias smell/look like?

There might be a few drops left in there. I think it is CS 100%.

But to be honest - $20 for 200-300 seeds? I was paying ~$10 a fem seed at the Tude. These should be all fems. Let's be real real conservative.

I have 100 seeds @ $1 a piece. $20 vs $100. You really can't beat that. But I'll check the color, smell,...ect

Mostly I referred to the price because some people on Amazon seemed to feel it was going to take several bottles to get through one seeding project and they were pissed about it. If you were able to get all that from one bottle, then well done! Do let us know how the germination goes with some of those seeds. I have CS in the house anyway because I use it for lots of stuff, so I may try this after I've had a chance to try some other auto varieties & know which ones I like best. (have only had any success with Gnomo so far but plan to try a couple more soon) Beats shelling out the dough, not to mention dealing with the stress over getting shipments without any trouble.

Does the Tiresias say anything about the safety of using the parts of the plant you didn't spray? The article I read seemed to feel that CS made the plant toxic for use, which seemed kind of overboard.

I hear that. If you start with a fem plant you should end up with 100% fem seeds with this method. This is so easy. Just isolate this (chick) so it doesn't pollinate others.

Just saw a yt vid where a guy who does this a lot recommends the Tiresias Mist over regular CS, and says there are other ingredients in it besides. Says he's never had his own seeds or any he sells out get reported back as male. Good find, HighLow.
