This grow log will focus on a stealth rubbermaid tub/tote closet setup. Lots of DIY work will be going down.

Inspiration for the rubbermaid setup comes from this very elaborate and clean setup.

The final product should look like this...



Maximum height room to fit the tubs in my closet is at 63" which is where the bar for my hangers meets.

Maximum width when placing the tote vertically to the far side of the closet is at 24".

An 18 gallon tote is 16" in height and 24" in width. Doubled up would be 36" in height obviously. Above the top tote will be another small rubbermaid container like in the picture which houses the lights. There will be a screen in between the light box and the top box to keep the plants from getting too close to the lights if they get the chance to grow that high.

Total amount of height room is at 32" but now we'll have to subtract the height of the air pot.

A 2 gal air pot is about 9" in height. So 32" - 9" = 23" of actual height room for the plants. So almost 2 feet... Which is... mediocre, I guess. A little more would be preferred of course. It's just that, I can't find any other totes that have a height more than 16" and a length of 24" or less.

I'm not sure what a 2 foot plant would yield but given proper care, LST and a scrog, I should get fair results for a personal amount right?

Medium
  • Coco Coir purchased off Amazon.
  • 3 bricks for $8 shipped.z
  • Vermiculite

Lighting
  • I will be lighting with CFL's using a dual spectrum ratio.
  • For vegging- 4x 26w 6500k & 2x 13w 2700k
  • For flowering- Vice versa. I also have a 40w Odor eliminating bulb by fresh2 that I can add but I'll probably just use that outside of the grow box and in the closet so it's effective when the lights for the plants are off.

Nutes
  • Strictly ORGANIC and Coir friendly (Taking suggestions)
  • Anything for sweet, explosive and real frosty buds

Odor Control
  • Walmart DIY Carbon Filter, Zen style
  • 1x 2700k 40w Fresh2 Odor eliminating bulb
  • 2x Glade oil fresheners in my room
  • Nag Champa
    I also have an old, small humidifier that I can just pack with activated carbon where the filter sits and stick an ona block in the middle. This should keep the air clean in the closet.

Fanning/Air movement
  • 2x 120mm Fans
  • Exhaust = 110 CFM
  • Intake = 49 CFM

Currently, I have 2 seedlings @ 8 days old sitting in one trial rubbermaid box with 3x 6500k 26w CFL's. They are in clay pots with organic soil mix. I probably will not transfer these into the coir since I have a different strain of bagseed (better) germing under moist napkins. Those new ones will be started in the Coir. I'll probably keep the 2 in their clay pots for the remainder of the growth instead of transferring them. They'll probably yield 4-12g if I'm lucky. Who knows.

Well anyway, I'll be looking around for totes with bigger height space. If anyone finds what I'm looking for, please let me know! Help me out with choosing nutes. I'm a noob when it comes to that and I would more so like to hear personal opinions and reviews.

Okay, so I did some thinking and bought 3xSamsara Feminized Supersonic Cristal Storm Autos (Black domina x lowryder). I did reading on Black domina and I'm STOKED to smoke it.
I can get around 2 ounces or more off a plant in 9 weeks. I'm planning on putting all 3 in at the same time. Scrog + LST for sure.

My airpots, botanicare pure blend pro set (nutes) and coco coir came in. My samsara autos haven't come in the mail yet but it's still soon. I expect to get them this week. After that it'll be 2x fem autos in 2 gal airpots and 1 bagseed fem in a small pot for fun.

Not sure if I should create a new thread or not since I won't be doing bagseed now that I have those Samsara seeds. Can't change the title and it's kind of misleading. Too much work anyway..

I let my friend take over on the bagseed plants because I don't have room. Both are sativa fems and about a month old. I'll try to get pictures of them soon.

I have 2x 9 day old autoflowering seedlings sitting in peat pots with coco coir right now and they're looking real good. One of them started out weird because it didn't get rid of the seed shell. Somehow it got really stuck and prevented some growth for a few days. It's only a few days behind the better looking plant but doing well.

I want to transfer into the airpots but my rubbermaid tote can only fit one pot. They're really wide. Gotta get bigger totes asap and build a new setup.

I didn't bother with pictures in this post because there's really nothing to see. The seedlings look just like the one in the first post.

I started feeding with PBP grow, Sweet, Liquid Karma and CalMag every watering, every morning with about 10-20% runoff. I'll do a clearex flush in a week and then switch to PBP bloom.

I like how the website claims the samsara seeds go into bloom @ 12 days old. I don't understand that.. How does a plant that small go into bloom??
