Airy buds

Hey guys just a quick question. I just cropped some bangi haze and it looks amazing in the tent. Nice and fat nugs and a nice smell. So after chopping and trimming I set them aside to dry. Temp 70-75 degree and humidity is at 60. After the first day of drying my buds became so loose and airy. No more dense nugs no more nothing. After just the first day. Wtf did I do wrong? Did I crop too early ? Anything helps. Thanks

Pics helps but it sounds like poor airflow you have.

I wish I could post a pic but this good for nothing goddamn website is not letting me. When you say airflow, do you mean during drying? If so, I had a 6in fan moving air around the buds, but not hitting the buds directly. So this is kinda killing me

This is true however the amount of weight that was lost was ridiculous. Like this buds were fucking fat and juicy. Now they're airy and not so pretty.
But after the first day of drying the buds should still be really really wet. So them feeling squishy is sort of normal.

how would we know if you harvested it too early? if trichome contents were cloudy to amber you did well, if they were clear or
if the breeder said 75 days and you harvested at 55 you failed. dial in your dry space and let those buds know they're still loved .

Fack... lol i have no idea what went wrong then. The trichs were milky when I cropped.

No I meant during the plants flowering, did you have enough fresh air frequently moving around the buds?
I had 2 4in pc fans and 2 6in fans all blowing at different angles. If it was airflow wouldn't they be airy to begin with? I wish I could post a damn picture so you guys could see the before and after

Maybe some specs on my grow ops would help. I'm using a 300w LED Full spectrum light. I was using an organic soil in a 5 gl soft pot. No nutes needed. Temp was between 70-80 degree throughout the grow. At lights out temp would drop low enough to turn buds purple.....shit maybe I have a light leak?

Did you check the tricomes on calyxes at several spots?

The leaf tricomes will mature faster than the ones on calyx.

How many were milky? Wait for a few amber to be sure.

on top of what others said, remember that weed is 75% water when its harvested, so when it dries it loses most of its weight

This is kind of what I am thinking also.
Is this your first time doing this? I mean, it sounds like you did everything correctly to me. Its just normal for it to lose the water weight.

*edit* if they are not dense enough when dry, you need more light in flower.

You dont have a light leak. How many days did you take the plant too. Did you flip the plant between Dec, 18-13th in 12/12? . If the time is later then what i just posted your probably harvested to early it being Feb 14th today. What day did you flip them? You have to know at least this..

Damnit I didn't do a good job a checking. If I remember correctly I checked the leaf. And in one spot like a jackass. I guess I was anxious to smoke this puppy.
That's what happened. Look for several signs if the plant being done. Tricomes are just one. Look for the pistils (hairs) to be mostly red or orange. They will laybflat or receed into the calyx. The calyx will swell when this happens making the bud hard.

The buds can put on up to 25% of thier weight in the last two weeks.

Remember to check the tricomes on the calyx in several spots. The leaves and tops will mature first.

Good rule of thumb. If you think its done, wait one more week.

Good to know!
I wish you guys in the know would help me determine if/when mine is ready (link in sig).
She is on day 53 of flower now and there are links to current photos.
I am seeing several colas that look finished to me but others still have white hairs sticking straight out.
Am to the point you said... when you think its done wait... but don't think i need another week.
I guess i should start my own 'is it done yet' thread but i think you guys have identified the problem here.
