Is it ok to use just alfalfa pellets not the meal? Ive been using pellets this whole time and heard you should use the meal, but you cant buy the meal around here.

I'm aware of two differences between alfalfa pellets and meal.
1. If using for a grow medium or AACT, pellets take time to break down and achieving an even mix is difficult.
2. Pellets are subjected to brief, extreme heat during that process. I don't have any scientific evidence but my instinct tells me extreme heat has to destroy some of the trace micronutrients, much like fish emulsion versus fish hydrolysate.

Its not hard to mix pellets into the soil, I put a handful ontop of my soil and spread them across, and watered. They puffed up, and I just broke them up with my hands and mixed in soil, worked well. And the the AACT when the pellets are added to water, they expanded within minitues, and because its a bubbling tea, they get mixed in very well.

Sounds fine for your operation. I grow multiple plants in 25 gallon Smart Pots and mix the grow medium (haven't found a cheap cement mixer) is the dreaded chore. I like everything in the grow medium to sustain the plants through their life cycles with AACT teas to keep the microherd happy. Top dressing in volume isn't efficient for me.

Just bought alfalfa pellets here today... ingredient label... alfalfa meal.. that was it... the instant I placed in warm water tehy disolved to meal in water.
