Clean the res, then clean it with some H202...

If it got on your roots then you'll need to use H202 in your res afterward. If you're using organic nutes, then you'll need a product like Clearex from Botanicare... I am sure there are others... But I'm new and not too familiar with the anti-algae products.

And yeah... Keep the light out! :hump:

Hi - I use CLEAREX to leach out salts. I didnt see anything on the bottle about killing algie. You sure about that? Should I go look at the jug again? Curious.

I had this prob two weeks ago. I cleaned out res. Had water and h2o2 in a large bowl and got as much off of the roots as possible. After I filled my red with only water and h2o2 overnight. The next day I cleaned out res again and poured water from a pitcher over the roots to get most of the alge off(obviously that in the center of the root mass was still there but I just left it. Finally I filled the res. With nutes at 1/2 of normal Used very little h2o2 and added hrgrozyme. Within 2 days roots were going strong again. White and alge free in 3 days. Then I bumped my nutes back up to where I had them

One more thing. Even the thicker dark colored rubbermades let light pass through them. I used the reflective foil duct tape to cover the entire tops because it will not light pass through the top to the water. This also keeps my water temp down by about 8 degrees. It is reflective but the inpenatrible to light part was the main draw.

I read it was one of the Botanicare products... thought it was Clearex... could be wrong. I know it's good for flushing out systems and like you said, correcting salt deposits. I will try and find the post I read that on. Good pickup though, thanks.
