Ammonium nitrate as nitrogen source

Hello!

I wonder is it reasonable to dilute in water ammonium nitrate and use it for watering?
My plants need a bit of nitrogen boost, but in local gardening shops this only solution, there are no nute complexes that are dominantly with Nitrogen.

What I do, it just get, lawn food, Scotts Super Green or whatever. It has 28% UAN. Urea and Ammonium. Any stronger and it has to be a liquid. It also has some Iron, which is good, too. But, it is strong and meant to cover square meters of lawn.

Since it is very hard to hit a PPM from the bottom, I just make up some by dissolving a pinch of powder, in a 1/2 liter of RO. I stir that around until I can get 300 ppm. It dissolves slowly in cold water....good.

I decant that and toss the rest of powder crystals. Then I cut that to 150 ppm and add a wetting agent and spray it.

So, how dilute will you make it? 200 ppm is probably good for a soil treatment. But, go easy. I find my rooted clones only need it twice, a week apart. And then, if I have a stain that needs a lot to green up. I will spay again, a couple of time, in the first month.

But it really works and I see results in a few days.

Yes, butch watch out if you're in hydro. It's good to keep the majority of your N in nitrate form for hydro and urea/ammonium for soil. In general though, yes, there's nothing inherently wrong with using NH4NO3.

If you're in soil, it should be great.

Ammonium Nitrate. Had fun with my dad as a kid with that and diesel fuel making m-80's into serious boom for the fish pond.

Thanks guys, any advices how much to dilute par liter or per gallon?
Well.....I did say. I spray 150 parts per million. I would use 200ppm as a soil booster.

So, it is pretty simple to me. Feed is the main environment control. We have to control the environment, since we
cannot control the plant or make it grow.

So, it seems like you want a recipe that calls for teaspoons and all you have as a measure tool is a bowl. :)

So, this is "advanced," the adding what mineral is needed. I have Ca/Mag Spray, Root auxin Spray, Dutch Master Liquid Light Spray.

But, this stuff we don't dilute a gal. of it nor do we use a gal. of it. So, your thinking is good, but you lack the tool to follow the instructions.

You need a simple PPM dip pen. $40. If you do have the tools you can do the controls. :)
