AN Tarantula

hey,

anyone tried advanced nutrients tarantula in a nft? i have both tarantula & piranha.

im finding the tarantula doesnt mix well at all, to be adding to a hydro system. its realy gritty, and even when left for 24hrs to mix, it still leaves loads of grit.

im might tri running it thru a tea strainer, get some of it then rather then all the grit.

hmmm ok for soil grows but i dout i'll buy it again for hydro. end up wasting the most of it by the tea it has been strained

the piranha mix's better. its abit more powery and softer.

Since the Lucas formula, not using it in DWC any longer but do remember reading that either should be tied into (individually?? I don't know) in a piece of nylon panty hose or the like and left to float (or sink, whatever it does) so 'it is like' a tea bag, releasing, what the hell are they?, bacteria, yes? BUT the grit stays in the "tea bag".

In DWC, if the res is kept at reasonably low temps, (65ish F) these bacteria will develope naturally and is not necessary.

I would think that (and I have never grown in soil) that they would be good for soil grows.

Hope this helps.

4maggio has it.

iirc piranha is fungi and tarantula is bacteria.

Awesome stuff really. Read up on mycorrhizae if you're interested, I think it's fascinating.

Microbes. Don't grow without 'em.

I run an ebb and flow set-up and I use tarantula and piranha...but only at half strength or less. I have all sorts of residue from it in my flood tray...it looks ugly, but my plants do very well. I have a pump on 24/7 inside my res with an air stone and an air rope, to keep everything mixed and aerated.

I would use Voodoo juice
leave the Piranha and Tarantula to the dirt farmers.

Hey Earl, you definitely know more about this stuff than me. I've been around, but I'm still playing with tinker toys compared to you.

Could you share your thinking behind this? Why do you recommend Voodoo for hydro and Piranha/Tarantula for soil?

I run quite a bit of Piranha/Tarantula/Vermi-T, probably 2-4 times the recommended amount through my DWC(my plants are fat, they need their nutrition...). I definately have black Tarantula crap growing and littered about the bottom of my res/system and quite a bit of tannish Piranha/Vermi-T foam bubbling on the top of the water. It looks a bit 'ugly', but my roots seem to love it from what I can tell and it feels pretty organic... :)

i use both on clones after roots start showing, by 14 days the clones have 6 inch dangling roots, then run about half what they suggest for 2 changes after that 1 if your poor, and bam plants will have massive roots and stems for huge plant growth

High Geist... I'm guessing 'they' is AN directions but I'm not sure what you are saying
"2 changes after that 1 if you're poor".. I get the POOR part, LOL!!!

Res changes in the next 8-13 weeks?

But I have clones started Monday and taranchala (like the spider) (sp?) paranah (like the fish) left over from my earlyer days.. I'll give it a try.

I'm presuming you are doing hydro of some sort.. not soil.. yes?

well i for one cant wait to try the tarantula ,pirahna, sensi zym,and sensi grow and bloom.Iasked the local hydro shop if they carried it they said "no"! and theres a big reason why we don't.They said because their products are specific for a certain plant,I said "OH! I DIDNT KNOW THAT............ And thinking wow thats what Ill be getting then :)

Hello surculus... I used all that AN for my first DWC grow and a half. THOSE NUTES COST A FORTUNE, the VooDoo alone is about $100/qt here not to mention the paranah/taranchala(SP?) that you buy by the gram.. sound familiar! LOL!

I had MONSTER stalks but yield was the same after I switched to the Lucas Formula with 2 strains: Herijuana and BB Cheese. Throughout the first 1.5 grows I was changeing the res every week (AN told me to do it: $$$$$$$): That's like changing the oil in your car every 500 miles. Renueting weekly will cost hundreds for one grow of medium size (20 gall res) and you will be chasing the Ph that was always going up, then down, then up.. you get it

kEEP IT SIMPLE. If you have to use AN just use just the 2 or 3 part nutes alone, first. Be sucessful, then go on.. if you feel the need to use the other 'supplements', go for it.

Just my 2cents.:joint:

Sorry to confuse, yes AN. I only use the tara/para for 2 weeks in the cloner and 2 weeks in the first rez. yes the clones had massive roots in 2 weeks only prob is i never did this minus the AN addatives to the cloner so who knows it might only b a minimul advantage or non, this is being tested atm.

I will also say i know someone who used AN sensi grow and bloom no other addatives sept mabe leftover koolbloom or somthing and the flavor was great but he gained no yeild and well i must say if most hydro ferts are liquid gold this shit is liquid platinum, in order to get the insane grows u see in the AN videos u have to use the entire C++ line and thats upwards of 1,000$ a cycle if u use prolly 25 gallons or more.
